I had this idea to put out some records. so i asked some friends who i thought played in some great bands if they would like to do a 7" single. This was about October 2005. By October 2006, both these bands (the City Ghosts, the Mockingbird Nightmare) had broken up. Luckily, in a way, the 7"s had never materialised. recordings were done that muscians weren't happy with or the will to keep going just gave way. However, we did (when i say we, i mean me and my boyfriend) had put on a gig at the Push Bar in Soho for both of these bands, whcih was a great success and lots of fun to do. Since the bands who really inspired me to set up a label have now gone, I'm left twiddling my thumbs. It could have been awesome, y'know? But the money I put away is still sat there and as soon as I find another band that makes me want to tell everyone else about, I'm ready.
this was the idea...
Baby Fish Records is an independent record label in London. We are punk rockers who like good songs we can smile and clap and dance and shout and scream and cry to. We dig DIY creativity, scissors, glue, and wearing your heart on your sleeve. We will grow and strive to release music that is inventive, interesting, takes note of the world and steps up and shouts about it. That isn’t afraid, that is bold and brave and honest, warms your heart, gives energy and delight. And if we fail, well, at least we can tell our mums and dads we tried.
Alice has ideas and dreams. Miles gets things done. Alot of the time they hang out goofing over punk rock. Andy does the website. you can see his fine work at www.babyfishrecords.co.uk.
