About Me

Hello all, Been some time since i’ve written anything from this site. as you may or may not have realised by now, some time ago geographical and life situations meant that the city ghosts are no longer functioning as a group, and are on an indefinate hiatus. Who knows if we’ll get together to record unfinished bits and bobs or do a couple of shows in the future, but for now i guess its quits. I’ve been reluctant to write anything here cos i was kinda gutted about it, but such is life.. Anyway, now i have, i thought i’d send out a bulletin or two and put up a blog to say thanks if you ever checked us out, put us on, played with us, listened to our music, or helped us out in any way whatsoever. As we never actually got round to properly releasing anything, i’ve been thinking about making a diy double cd discography thing compiling the songs we recorded, (of which there are almost twenty in all) some acoustic covers and some live stuff most people never really heard. If you were ever into us, feeling nostalgic, or are just damn curious or interested in getting hold of a copy, I’m gonna make a bunch with some DIY artwork and bits n bobs, all you need to do is email me with the title ’GHOSTS DISCOGRAPHY’ at ’[email protected]’ or send a message to the page here with your name and POSTAL address, and i shall post one out to you for the fine price of 2 minutes of your time to get in touch. On a similar note, if ANYBODY has any stories, PHOTOS or memories to share with us of the ghosts, it’d be greatly appriciated if we could get a copy! Thanks for checking this out.The City Ghosts...................................................... .’a wonderful gang of bright young things from Hull, East Yorkshire. This four piece made up siblings Hetty (vocals) and Greg (guitar/vocals), Lee (bass) and Nat (drums) are all faces from their local punk scene who have pushed out the boundaries of said genre, into more creative stretches of bittersweet indie rock melodies drawing from weekday afternoons scouring through charity shop record boxes. The boy/girl vocals are urgent and passionate and swoop and swerve over guitar pop tunes, layered with beautiful strings and an innovate rhythm section. Theyre already a staple on the gig circuit around Yorkshire and the north, wooing anyone who likes their music catchy and thoughtful. Its the soundtrack to coming of age, of learning from your mistakes, brushing yourself down and trying again. Really, theyre fucking wicked and youll dig em! ’ babyfish

Sounds Like: 'dark harmony indie rock punk pop'-------------------------------------------------------- --''On first listen, Hull's City Ghosts peddle the kind of college rock sounds you'd normally assosiate with US flannel - clad softies. Yet their yearning east yorkshire - tinged boy/girl vocals and rainy day rock n roll suggest they're actually a quintessential British pop group - and an ace one at that. More please!" - 'NME' --------------------------------
