About Me

Videopoetry Visualpoetry Experimental films Soundscapes http://www.geertwachtelaer.com/STATEMENTStatement :My work concentrates on universal human experiences, birth, death and the secrets of the human consciousness, and found its roots in the psychoanalytical foundation . Although I'm not interested by showing the artist's private life or by revealing a kind of intimicy and confessions which seems irrevelant and even boring. The video's bring a hidden knowledge to the audience : that what is already inside of the audience. Creation , not invented, but what comes alive when you live it so that it would almost touch the soul of the spectator. Only such fysical confrontation with the elementary fysical reality can move you mentally, the metanarrative of the work of the unconscious and the ability to identify the paradoxical space created in a parallel world in which transference relationships could form. The experimental investigation addresses to the whole field of the audio-visual arts, as well to the outside – where a dialogue is possible with the other arts : soundartists, performers, painters, writers, choreographers – as within – where the audio-visual arts are confronted with itself, even in it's hybrid state like it is now. As long if it is lived out and not inventedVideo art is no longer an innocent play-thing of conceptual art. The awareness of the fact that videoart as medium has a history of forty years. So it's important to research the historical developments of videoart. With this in mind I also refers to the film history. The relationship between concept and intuition - between theory and practice is like going through an airlock. You can only open the door before you when the door behind you closes. The time spend in the airlock is reflection. The artist may not forget to make a dialogue with society. Looking beyond borders, reseach and investigation in collaborations, positioning oneself in society. The work offers transgressive possibilities for re-imagining the past, the present and also the future.Cultivate a sharper 'capacity to self-clean'More reflection and more attention to the form.Being subjective in depth can only make art greater. Inventions or objective art are not relevant. As Kierkegaard said, truth is subjectivity. Personal experience consitutes our existence. A continuity of the consciousness by time-stream, most of it find its source in the atmosphere of performance. The aim throughout is to contribute to an in-depth and properly international discussion of the implications of contempory videoart and cinema. We see new pathways emerging for video art, representative of cultural factors, societal changes, and the advancements in cinema and technology.Revisualising memories, which can be at times a powerful dissection between recollection and identity both in regards to visual language and cinematic presence. These works, “dematerialized” or freed from the physicality of painting or sculpture, thus “secured a higher purity”Evidently a different nature opens itself to the camera than opens to the naked eye … the camera introduces us to unconscious optics as does psychoanalysis to unconscious impulses. The film becomes an occasion of discovery, but instead of mystification, its sublimity comes from the celebration of what one already understands:the film as its own subject. The film becomes an occasion of discovery, but instead of mystification, its sublimity comes from the celebration of what one already understands: the film as its own subject.

Videoartist

I dislike the term 'videoartist'.     I just use video as a tool to sculpture in time.  I could be using paint or photography or installations...    Labeled&nbs...
