Stars Come Out to Salute Radio One, on Media Network's 25th Anniversary.By Tanu Henry, AOL Black Voices (August 23,2006)This past Thursday, though, only a few blocks from the White House, a core of black Hollywood came to Washington in numbers and with one purpose: to salute Radio One, a Washington-based leader in the black media business.Along with celebrities, politicians, activists, investors, academics, other businesspeople and local Radio One supporters filled the J.W. Marriott hotel ballroom in what became a night of enjoyable entertainment, award presentations and warm toasts. 'Showtime at the Apollo's' Kiki Shepherd and Ananda Lewis, formerly of BET’s ‘Teen Summit,’ hosted the evening. Aretha Franklin brought guests to tears with the Italian Aria ‘Nessun Dorma’ sung in full operatic voice with rich, soul-stirring movements. And Natalie Cole performed her hit song ‘Inseparable’ with effortless proficiency.Link: http://blackvoices.aol.com/black_news/canvas_directory_headl ines_features/_a/stars-come-out-to-salute-radio-one-on/20060 821064709990001
