About Me

Kyle Albertson joins Minnesota Opera as a Resident Artist in the 2006-07 season performing the roles of Lindorf/Dr. Miracle in Les Contes d’Hoffmann, Nilakantha in Lakme, Bartolo in Le nozze di Figaro, Archibald Douglas in Rossini’s La donna del lago, and covering the roles of Noah in Ricky Ian Gordon’s The Grapes of Wrath. He will return for a second season to the Minnesota Opera in 2007-08 in the roles of Sam in Un ballo in maschera, Haly in L’Italiani in Algeri, Capulet in Romeo et Juliette, and The Forrester in Rusalka.Mr. Albertson sang the role of Geronimo in Cimarosa’s Il matrimonio segreto in the summer of 2006 with the prestigious Merola Opera Program, a performance for which the San Francisco Chronicle reviewed, “Bass-baritone Kyle Albertson harrumphed resoundingly as Don Geronimo.”Mr. Albertson also enjoys a strong relationship with Chicago Opera Theater, having performed Quince in A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Henry Kissinger in Nixon in China, lauded by the Chicago Sun Times and The Chicago Tribune for his “watchful” and “effective” portrayal.As a member of the Aspen Opera Theater Center, Mr. Albertson performed Besso in Giasone, Harasta in The Cunning Little Vixen, Monterone in Rigoletto, and returns to this summer to perform the role of Escamillo in Carmen.Other roles to Mr. Albertson’s credit include Maximilian and Captain in Candide, the Vicar in Albert Herring, Ottone in L’Incoronazione di Poppea, Papageno in Die Zauberflöte, and Don Andreas in La Périchole.A versatile concert performer, Mr. Albertson has performed the Baritone solo in Carmina Burana, and R.V. Williams’ Five Mystical Songs.Mr. Albertson was a Regional Finalist in the 2007 Upper Midwest Region of the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions. He was the third place winner of the 2005 Central Region MONCA, as well as the Houston Grand Opera Eleanor McCollum Competition in 2004.Mr. Albertson holds a Master of Music degree from DePaul University where he studied with world renowned mezzo-soprano Susanne Mentzer, and a Bachelor of Music from the University of Northern Iowa where he studied with David Smalley.I edited my profile at Freeweblayouts.net , check out these Myspace Layouts!
