I love long conversations over a glass of good wine, reading and owning books, I love dancing, looking at pin ups, I'm interested in culture from various eras, from Victoriana to the 1920s, 30s up to the 50s. From these periods I like the history, fashion and design and I do like a bit of nostalgia! J' aime le can can! Not a big fan of television, but I did love Sex and the City; and I also love Curb your enthusiasm.
Some of my favourites include Nights at the Circus, the New York Trilogy, Lolita, Tipping the velvet, Heart of darkness, various essays by Roland Barthes, The final confession of Mabel Stark, The house of spirits,1984 and anything by George Orwell, Goodbye to Berlin, Pretty things, stuff by Simone de Beauvoir, Frances Scott Fitzgerald. I tend to like quirky novels and 20th century classics, and obviously books about burlesque, besides biographies of interesting artists.
I am inspired by strong women and classic burlesque queens, old movies and vintage illustration. Women who have inspired me include Frida Kahlo, Lee Miller, Dirty Martini, Mata Hari, Jo King who has taught me a lot, Cindy Sherman, Sally Rand, Josephine Baker, Bettie Page, Rita Hayworth, Tempest Storm etc etc
