About Me

Hello and welcome to my page! I am a classic burlesque performer fascinated by times that are long gone, from which I draw inspiration. I love to dance, twirl my tassels and entertain people. I am passionate about every aspect of burlesque, I find it an extremely exciting art form, it's endless fun for me!! I have performed at many different kinds of events, including festivals, clubs, gallery openings, private functions and corporate events. My Interests

I'm a girl who loves vintage glamour, dressing up & having a party. I love long conversations over a glass of good wine, reading and owning books, I love dancing, looking at pin ups, I'm interested in culture from various eras, from Victoriana to the 1920s, 30s up to the 50s. From these periods I like the history, fashion and design and I do like a bit of nostalgia! J' aime le can can! Music:

Some favourite genres include swing, charleston, ragtime, punk, I love the Ramones! the cramps, johnny cash, sex pistols, clash, nina simone, belle & sebastian, sleazy and dirty blues, the shins, wanda jackson, fats domino,goldfrapp, surf, rockabilly, mambo, bessie smith, yma sumac ...the list is sooooo long............................

Movies:

kubrick, hitchcock, film noir, the list of titles is long! contemporary indie movies, old Hollywood flicks for glamour, Gilda, A clockwork orange, Lolita, Sunset boulevard, anything by David Lynch, Zabriskie Point, La Dolce Vita, La Strada and in general Fellini's movies and old italian cinema, Chaplin, Donnie Darko, Chinatown, Rome Open city, Pecker, Amelie, The girl can't help it, American Spendour, Ghost World, Some like it hot, cabaret, lady of burlesque

Television:

Not a big fan of television, but I did love Sex and the City; and I also love Curb your enthusiasm.

Books:

Some of my favourites include Nights at the Circus, the New York Trilogy, Lolita, Tipping the velvet, Heart of darkness, various essays by Roland Barthes, The final confession of Mabel Stark, The house of spirits,1984 and anything by George Orwell, Goodbye to Berlin, Pretty things, stuff by Simone de Beauvoir, Frances Scott Fitzgerald. I tend to like quirky novels and 20th century classics, and obviously books about burlesque, besides biographies of interesting artists.

Heroes:

I am inspired by strong women and classic burlesque queens, old movies and vintage illustration. Women who have inspired me include Frida Kahlo, Lee Miller, Dirty Martini, Mata Hari, Jo King who has taught me a lot, Cindy Sherman, Sally Rand, Josephine Baker, Bettie Page, Rita Hayworth, Tempest Storm etc etc
