Circle J - Hardhitting folkpunk from The Lowlands

About Me

OUT NOW!
As y’all now, we’ve finished our first full length album ’Fat Man’s Chest’. The first reviews are more than promising, which didn’t get unnoticed! Sonic Rendezvous offered us to distribute the album worldwide. Check www.sonic.nl to order your copy of Fat Man’s Chest. Ofcourse you can still order by sending an e-mail to [email protected] or buy it at various Plato stores around Holland, Concerto Amsterdam, Boudisque Utrecht or via www.plato.nl and various other stores around the world. It’ll cost you only about 10 euro, postal fees excluded.
About the band
Circle J has been around since the late nineties, playing their mix of three-chord punk and fun punk in every bar, squat and shitehole that was up for it. That is, until a 2002 Flogging Molly concert made them see the light and they decided to infuse their punk with a shot of folk. A bouzouki, banjo and flute player joined the band in rapid succession and what started as a flirt with folk soon evolved into a full-blown love affair. This union was blessed a short while later by The Levellers, who welcomed Circle J as support act for their Chaos Theory tour in the Benelux. Last summer, the band went into the studio and came out with nine folk punk pearls and a gigantic thirst. Fat Man’s Chest is Circle J’s first full-blown album, filled with folksongs and shanties. With its sturdy folkpunk and dark lyrics, the album takes the listener on a swashbuckling journey across the seven seas to the far corners of the earth.
On stage, a shared preference for stomping punkrock, Irish folk, beer and sing-alongs has moulded Circle J into a tight-knit bunch of scoundrels, sparkling with energy and fun. When you’re in the audience, there’s really only one thing you can do: Grab hold of your beer, put your fist in the air, and scream along!
Circle J has played many venues and festivals in the Benelux, including Tivoli Utrecht, Paradiso Amsterdam, 013 Tilburg, Rockhall (LU), het Paard The Hague, Bolwerk Sneek, de Oosterpoort Groningen, the Mezz Breda, the Liberation Day Festival Utrecht, Rock van Laer (BE), and the Rootz Festival. Circle J has shared the stage with acts like The Levellers (GB), Neck (GB), Blood or Whiskey (IE), Skontra (ES), Mr. Irish Bastard (DE) and Jason Webley (US).
