I pledge allegiance to my displacement...

About Me

I take my life one self-imposed, asinine challenge at a time. First it was Acting school. Then moving to London for the Master's in Dramaturgy--and the offer still stands, I will buy you a drink if you know what that is without having to look it up.. Nowadays, I work at a nonprofit media arts center and I'm dramaturg for Bricolage.Hopefully, I'll become an indie film star without having to resort to porn. Although I appear quiet and shy at first, I am actually neither of those things to those that know me. I use profanity at every opportunity; I feel that "fuck" is highly versatile. I write horrible poetry and change my haircolor often. My hobbies include: b&w photography, using big words, and being incredibly indecisive.

My Interests

I'm a vegetarian and I often wear shoes that are sexy, but very uncomfortable. Travel, tea, Swing Dancing, obscurity, Rockabilly, Photography, Theatre, Indie Film, the unexpected, liking animals more than people, sleeping in, adventures, Lisa Simpson, accents, chocolate, indecision, NPR, laughter (but really, who doesn't like laughter?), exploring, the color pink, wandering, musing, and dreaming. Tiny dogs!

I'd like to meet:

Anybody with a story to tell. Or an inappropriate sense of humor. If you call yourself an intellectual, you're probably not. If you think you're tragic and unique, you're most certainly not. I'm a bit bored of this pretentious hipster sensibility. We're more alike than we care to admit....So let's get out there and do something for the world. Say what you mean. Use your hands, your voice, your pen.Fuck complacency.

Music:

Indie Pop Rocks on SOMA FM.Voxtrot, the Weakerthans, Stars, the Shins, Mike Doughty, the ubiquitous Death Cab, Tegan and Sara, the Decemberists, Aqualung, Brand New, Ted Leo, and some other Punk/Ska left over from a former life.Mozart, however, reigns supreme: I named my dog after him.

Movies:

Amelie, The Princess Bride, The Godfather Parts I & II, Secretary, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Garden State, Love Actually, Me,You, and Everyone We Know

Television:

The Simpsons will always be my No.1 (Seasons 1-9, anyway); Something to Be Desired (Hey, it's TV on the web...and no, it's not porn. Sorry to disappoint you.) ; Project Runway ; What Not to Wear (I'm going to take Stacy London's job one day...not like forcibly, but she'll pass on her title of Raging Fashion Bitch to me when she gracefully retires. Clinton Kelly and Ann Turiano?); Reno 911; Sex and the City (I'm totally a Carrie).

Books:

Anything magic realism. You Shall Know Our Velocity!; A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius; The Lovely Bones, Love in the Time of Cholera, One Hundred Years of Solitude...and poetry by Octavio Paz, Sharon Olds, Olga Cabral, and Adrienne Rich.

Heroes:

Tom Nuckels; Tim Gunn; Stacy London; Ana Sanchez-Colberg; Sophie Calle.

I Couldn't Help It!

I have succumbed to the trend I tried so hard to resist. I debated it in my head, and held out for a respectable 5 months. My American girls scolded me for even considering it. But I HAD to do it: ...
