POLITICS...like the bumper sticker sez "If you're not appalled, you're not paying attention." Poetry and live music. At one point I was writing and compiling articles for a zine to promote live music in my town. But now that I live here, there are plenty of people already doing that. And I'd rather let ~them~ toil, heh heh heh...
THERE IS STRENGTH IN NUMBERS!
Anyone who hasn't beenFluent Spanish speakers (I need to work on my pronunciation). And anyone who is politically aware, that loves and fears for their personal liberties. ESPECIALLY if you have good taste in books/music!
Classic and Alt-country (Hank Williams, Hank Snow, Patsy Cline, Merle Haggard, and Loretta Lynn to BOTTLE ROCKETS, Son Volt, Neko Case), ROCK-A-BILLY in both its classic AND delightfully perverted forms (Wanda Jackson and Gene Vincent to CRAMPS and Rev. Horton Heat), and of course, the uncategorizable JOHNNY CASH. John Coltrane, Miles Davis, Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Peggy Lee, DEAN MARTIN and FRANK SINATRA...OK now I'm just thumbing thru my record collection to show off...lol. Rolling Stones, Misfits, CLASH, Pixies, DEAD KENNEDYS, and (maybe my favorite of all time) RAMONES!! Of course, if we're just talking about bands that are still alive and together, CALEXICO is my favorite. I worked at a record store for a few years, and that's where I developed an ear for hip-hop, too. If you've never heard IMMORTAL TECHNIQUE, Handsome Boy Modeling School or Kool Keith ("the Black Elvis"), check 'em out. You won't be disappointed ;) Here's a great video from my friends all the way from Hip-Hop-Istan, ARAB LEAGUE. WAKE UP INFIDELS! BLOW UP THE DEATH STAR!!

El Mariachi, Good Fellas, Serpico, and Amelie are a few of my fav's, but I LOVE everything John Waters ever made. I think I like Female Trouble, Cry Baby, Pecker and Hairspray the best.
GET A LIFE...**READ** the news, people!
A Scanner Darkly, Valis, A Confederacy of Dunces, Picture of Dorian Gray, Cat's Cradle, Kin Flix. As far as poetry goes, Sylvia Plath and Anne Sexton remain my favorites, but I've been reading a collection of Nicaraguan poetry. I'll post any of the poems from that book I think people would want to read in my blog...the poets are dead anyway. They won't care.
One Flaw In Women By the time the Lord made woman, He was into his sixth day of working overtime. An angel appeared and said, "Why are you spending so much time on this one?" And the Lord answered, "Have you seen my spec sheet on her? She has to be completely washable, but not plastic, have over 200 movable parts, all replaceable and able to run on diet coke and leftovers, have a lap that can hold four children at one time, have a kiss that can cure anything from a scraped knee to a broken heart -and she will do everything with only two hands."Currently accepting applications! It's about time we all became heroes and begin standing up for what is right!
