About Me

Smooth. Soulful. Funky. Lyrical. Jazzy. Emotional. Intelligent. These are a few of the many descriptions given to the music of Kevin Brando.
“I believe music should be both cerebral and visceral, “ Kevin explains, “giving you something to think about and something to feel.” And the result is a combination that moves listeners in both ways.
As a writer, vocalist and keyboardist, he has lent one or more of these talents to a variety of artists including Christina Aguilera and The Motels. Influenced by his musical father and older brother, both accomplished jazz trombonists, Kevin blew his first note at sixteen months of age. He began performing before audiences at the age of two, singing and playing the trombone in the hotel his parents operated in Dallas, Texas and later toured supper clubs all the way to Los Angeles where he made his television debut performing on Disney’s Mickey Mouse Club when he was five years old. That led to childhood appearances in feature films and TV, including lending his speaking voice to Schroeder and singing voice to Charlie Brown in two animated musical specials for CBS, and he can still be heard at Disneyland as the voice of Pinocchio in Fantasyland’s “Pinocchio’s Daring Journey” ride.
But, through it all, a passion for music stirred within him. He constantly sang and played his horn growing up, and as his muse developed he adopted the keyboard after one of his greatest influences, Stevie Wonder. “What I love about R&B music is the groove... the soul it has. But the problem is it so rarely has anything to say anymore,” explains Brando. “Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye... those guys gave you something for your body and your mind. I’m just trying to get back there.”
With the funk influence of classic Stevie, he blends the intellectual influence of artists like Sting to create a melange of smooth pop hooks with meaning and movement. “I’m out to shake your booty AND your mind,” says Kevin, who stands poised to shake the world with his music and make it yours.
