My Interests

Many in the entertainment industry know and respect a woman who has established herself as a lady of elegance and class. She is Sibrena "Xica" Stowe de Fernandez, Publisher of LaChic:La Revista Para Mujeres. The magazine for Latina women who are interested in the latest trends in beauty and fashion, the rich history and culture of Latin American Socialites & the happenings of the entertainment business. Why LaChic:La Revista Para Mujeres? Because Sibrena was born and raised in the U.S., she's always been taught to embrace her Cuban roots. At a young age, she was taught to not only speak Spanish, but to read and write properly. Her Grandfather Luis Negron, born in Santiago de Cuba, never let her forget the fact thats she was "una criolla" in the melting pot of North America and that she is a true American socialite with indigenous blood and a wealth of land, here and abroad. With this knowledge firmly placed in heart heart and a persistant dream that kept playing like a movie in her head, Stowe de Fernandez chose to leave the urban music scene to publish LaChic. She say's, "I felt the urge to do something right now. I'm very tired of the perception that Latinos come here dirt poor with backward ways when I know the truth. Many of our families came here to avoid political prosecution. Our families are educated land owners and its sad that Gringos look at us as if we come from nothing. The Americas are our land and foreigners came her on the Mayflower and claimed it. The Southern region of the US were invaded by the French and Spanish, as the Caribbean Islands and South America and so we are all mestizo because of the Native American blood. This is what makes us Latinos, the Europeans from the Latin derived romance languages and Native Indian and African blood." Sibrena wants to inspire and motivate Latino pride. While attending Montgomery College outside of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Ms.Stowe de Fernandez interned as a producer, sound engineer and reporter for the public affairs department at the popular urban radio station, WUSL-FM, also known as Power 99 FM in Philadelphia. Radio executives marveled at Stowe de Fernandez's energy, ambition and ability to get the story completed. Moving quickly through the ranks of the station, Sibrena was then assigned to work on the production of their "Sunday Morning Live Show," a talk show that specialized in public affairs and community issues such as, politics, education and health.Coming from a political family, Sibrena dove into politics as an assistant press secretary, working diligently for then incumbent, Chaka Fattah on his Fattah For Congress campaign in 1994. Stowe de Fernandez was a contributing factor in Congressman Fattah's success in winning the Congressional seat. With a short stint in advertising at a major publishing company in Philadelphia and a talent scout for a franchise casting office, Sibrena decided to take her career to another level by incorporating her own media firm. Wanting to be the best, Stowe de Fernandez set out to set the record straight. It is possible to have brains and beauty and so decided to combine her talent in broadcasting and advertising experience to then come up with Stowe Communications, Inc.By September of 1996, this dynamic woman had settled in her newly incorporated offices of Stowe Communications, Inc., (SCI) in New York City. Within a year's time, what started as a media buying company, had blossomed into a full service media firm-encompassing advertising, publicity, reporting and event planning. As of June 1999, Sibrena Stowe de Fernandez began to write celebrity news for on-air personality, Miss Jones of New York's Hot 97 FM and was instrumental in obtaining a radio deal for Miss Jones on Philly's 103.9 The Beat, a Radio One station.SCI's extensive client roster included high profile entertainment executives such as Czar Entertainment's The Game, Mario Winans, Big Gipp, Guerilla Black, Def Jam's Foxy Brown, Kedar Entertainment's platinum artists Erykah Badu, Chico DeBarge, Jive Records artist, Mystikal and Petey Pablo, Tupac Shakur's group, The Outlawz, Arista's DJ Quik and Run/DMC; Universal's Juvenile, Big Tymers, The legendary Rakim, MJG & Eightball and countless others! In addition, SCI's event planning division included clients such as the NFL's Official Superbowl event, Passion For Fashion produced by then Philadelphia Eagles, Rodney Peete and actress Holly Robinson-Peete which was hosted by Star Jones; as well as the movie premiere party of: STANDING IN THE SHADOW OF MOTOWN, co-hosted by The NARAS Grammy Committee and Artisan Entertainment. Also, Sibrena has written celebrity news columns and celebrity profiles for the publishers of Celebrity Worldwide, Inc., the company that published magazines such as, Black Hairstyles & Trends, Stun, Ignite and Kidz Plnet. You may have seen here trade mark columns called, "Speakin' It Real with Sibrena." Not to mention her rave reviews in publications like the historical, New York Amsterdam News, Black Enterprises' Entertainment Special on Hip Hop Moguls and an entire chapter on Stowe Communications, Inc., in the book, "The New Color of Success," by author, Nikki Butler-Mitchell. Sibrena was also seen on BET Tonight with Tavis Smiley, about millionaires of color under the age of 30! She can also be seen on Rocafella Film, "Death of a Dynasty."This is a woman of the millenium to watch! For further information please contact: Sibrena S. de Fernandez email: [email protected]......

I'd like to meet:

GROWN WOMEN VS. GIRLS Girls leave their schedule wide-open and wait for a guy to call and make plans. Grown women make their own plans and nicely tell the guy to get in where he fits in. Girls want to control the man in their life. Grown women know that if he's truly hers, he doesn't need controlling. Girls check you for not calling them. Grown women are too busy to realize you hadn't. Girls try to put a man 'on lock' by using sex. Grown women know that it's the sex of the mental kind that makes a man want to 'lock' you down. Girls fake-moan, lay there and take the stabbing. Grown women say, "Just stop", get up, get dressed and walk it out. Girls are afraid to be alone. Grown women revel in it-- using it as a time for personal growth. Girls ignore the good guys. Grown women ignore the bad guys. Girls worry about not being pretty and/or good enough for their man. Grown women know that they are pretty and/or good enough for any man. Girls try to monopolize all their man's time (i.e, don't want him hanging with his friends). Grown women realize that a little bit of space makes the 'together time' even more special -- and goes to hang with her own friends! Girls think a guy crying is weak. Grown women offer their shoulder and a tissue. Girls want to be spoiled and 'tell' their man so. Grown women 'show' him and make him comfortable enough to reciprocate without fear of losing his 'manhood'. Girls get hurt by one man and make all men pay for it. Grown women know that it was just one man(or 2 o3 =)nequa-). Girls fall in love, chase aimlessly after the object of their affection, ignoring all 'signs'. Grown women know that sometimes the one you love, doesn't always love you back -- and move on, without bitterness. Girls will read this and get an attitude. Grown women will read this and pass it on to other Grown women
