You can catch Nike’ (pronounced nee-kay) entertaining crowds at some of downtown Atlanta’s hottest music venues. Apache Cafe, Urban Grind, Django’s; Nike’ has blessed them all. The Atlanta raised singer/songwriter has been singing since she was a child. Her music and sound are strong, melodic, and mixed with slight jazz tones. Her songs reflect real life and emotion, “My sound is about bringing back the purity of music.â€
Her influences include Ella Fitzgerald, Mary J. Blige, Billie Holiday, Nina Simone, and Erykah Badu among others. The artist credits her love of music to her parents. Her father was born and raised in Liberia and her Mother born and raised in Trinidad. Music was a household focus. Nike’ has been writing poetry and songs since about the age of eleven. She also records and arranges her own music and has worked with the likes of Atlanta artists B-5, Blaque, and Lil Zane.
