Born to a Ugandan mother and an African-American-West Indian father in the mid-70s, Ntwengye’s childhood was spent in tough East-African neighborhoods of Kariokor, Ngei Estate, Phase II ; in Kenya; and different cities in Uganda as well as Uptown Harlem and Washington heights , New York City.
His mother, his biggest influence and role model was involved in one of the greatest revolutionary movements that started with 27 men against 30, 000 men, instating current president of Uganda, his Excellency Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.
Ntwengye, is the true definition of a generation exposed to African and World politics in general in its very prime, highlighting the strengths and evils of those very politics that continue to haunt millions of Africans in the Diaspora and beyond.
As an artist, Mugabe represents the voice of this generation Currently, Mugabe has a single, "GENERATION X, now available on itunes .. Since 1991, Mugabe has represented this same voice, performing with his lyrical co-horts Boondox, NAT-TURNER,RALO, USK; amongst others at numerous locations in New York City, including "Lyricist Lounge" as well as several Underground Hip-Hop Locations.
In 2000, Mugabe was one of the first MC’s of his generation, to release a limited edition album independently. Single-handedly and in dire circumstances typical of New York City street life, he promoted his product, selling unimaginable numbers daily. He put out, "RENT MONEY", which to this day has sold over 40,000 copies.
In 2001, he produced "TRAVEL MUSIC", an album of 32 tracks(straight beats) which has sold over 26,000 copies. To this very day, both albums are still very much in demand. Although both put out as LIMITED EDITION albums, they are still available to the general public.
Mugabe is a versatile revolutionary artist whose talent and message goes beyond the present representation of Hip-Hop Culture. He seductively marries both his African and African-American cultures, expressing a personal global message often overlooked and underrated.
Mugabe is a STAR in his own right and has established his presence in the music industry as a unique multi-dimensional artist. He has worked with many legendary New York City’s Hip-Hop artists such as JUNIOR MAFIA, SPECIAL ED as well as many DEF JAM artists. Currently, he is working with 40 Bandits, BOONDOX THE BUTCHER,Gasuza, Nikki Banks, Miriam Chemmoss:" LOVE IN REVERSE", Miriam Chemmoss - Love In Reverse - Single - Love In Reverse.. Tragedy-Khadaffi, Da Myth, Don P, USK,The Future , Focus, Jon Kingz; amongst others.
He is currently producing his own album, ’SOWING THE MUSTARD SEED"and collaborating with several artists and producers all over the US. As a producer, he is currently developing hot, unsigned Hip-Hop artists in the New York City area.
