'
Writer, Rapper, Producer & Visionary are just some of the titles worn by this International Latin American Superstar. Born January 16th 1981, SACARIO aka "Mr Guantalo Ahi" burst onto the New York Hip-Hop scene with his now classic record "LIVE BIG" (CAR KEYS).
His distinctive near-flawless delivery, crisp almost naturally mixed vocal tone & clever wordplay skyrocketed SACARIO to fame in 2001.
Almost immediately the young word smith drew comparison to another "young" rapper, Jay-Z. Unnerved by the constant comparison SACARIO set out to make his own mark, and that he did.
Enters HOT 97 RADIO ICON ANGIE MARTINEZ . "She came to meet me Uptown on Dykman and Broadway" SACARIO recalls of the impromptu meeting between him and Angie in the Summer of 2001. "We sat in her truck and spoke for about 3 hours, it felt right". A decision was made that same night, SACARIO would sign with Angie's newly formed Production Company 'Animal House'.
In the following months the Hip-Hop community would see, hear and feel a lyrical onslaught of SACARIO music. From continuous features on Mixtapes like Kay Slay, Envy, Whoo kid, Big Mike, & Green Lantern to features on huge
REMIXES with USHER, ALICIA KEYS & MISSY ELLIOT. SACARIO was on fire. The decision to re-release his record "Live Big" (car keys) and premier it on Hot 97 was the nail in the coffin. "We played it for Mr Cee just to see what he thought about the record and he was like give it to me, this needs to go on right now!" So it did, then DJ ENUFF played it, then FUNK FLEX then nearly every record company called!.
Enters former Chairmen and CEO of ELEKTRA ENT; SYLVIA RHONE. "Angie was already signed as an Artist to Elektra so we decided to take that meeting first" says SACARIO. That meeting would be the first and last because shortly after the initial meeting, Elektra Ent offered SACARIO an unprecedented
5 ALBUM / $4.4M RECORDING CONTRACT. And before the ink on the contract even dried 'Live Big' was added onto the Blockbuster Movie Soundtrack 'THE TRANSPORTER'
IF I COULD GO
"My A&R Fed Ex'd the beat to my house and said "this is the single, write it" says SACARIO referring to what would become one of the biggest records of 2002, "IF I COULD GO". "I honestly wasn't really feeling the beat at first" he said. "But I sat down on my couch and starting writing it". SACARIO turned in the entire song to Elektra the next day including the singing vocals for Lil Mo. "Alot of people don't know that Elektra wanted Jennifer Lopez and even Shakira on that record". Ultimately the wisest choice would be Lil Mo who's soulful-angelic voice complimented the infectious crossover Latin-themed dance grove.
24 WEEKS ON BILLBOARD TOP 40 MAINSTREAM CHARTS Most added on Crossover radio stations, 9,000 per week spin average, 80 Million radio audience and charting in over 12 countries, "If I Could Go" flew out of this atmosphere and became a International smash hit.
The
50 CENT / G-UNIT REMIX TO "IF I COULD GO"only helped to further propel the record as a fixture on radio stations and mixtapes worldwide.

The enormous success of "If I Could Go" prompted Elektra Executives to hire SACARIO to write Angie's second single which he titled "TAKE YOU HOME". The record also featured KELIS. SACARIO's work with Miami Production duo
COOL N DRE (50 Cent, Game, Christina Milian) would produce 3 more records off of Angie's album all written by SACARIO for Angie. Multi-Platinum Producer
SCOTT STORCH (Dr Dre, Beyonce) also lent his midas touch, as did
MISSY ELLIOT &
SALAAM REMI. (Wyclef, Amy Winehouse).
SACARIO WENT ON TO WRITE ANGIE'S ENTIRE ALBUM
ANIMAL HOUSE PEAKED TOP 10 ON BILLBOARD CHARTS
In less than 6 months SACARIO had already written 2 Hit records but the unpresidented decision to make him
EXECUTIVE PRODUCER of Angie's Album. was monumental. "You have to understand Angie signed me" he said. "There aren't too many artist, if any, who can say they got signed and then Executive Produced their bosses album". SACARIO's wisdom, hands-on approach, work-ethic and ability to multi-task were all the makings of a young superstar . . . .
WHAT HAPPENED??
"Me and Angie were upset with the numbers" says Sacario referring to Angie's first week sales on the album 'Animal House (just under 100,000 units). "I remember we were at the airport in Arizona somewhere when we got the call". This was SACARIO's first of what would be a few upcoming disagreements with his record company. "We had a TOP 40 record with no Urban spins yet the promotion dept was promoting specifically to an Urban demographic" said SACARIO. "How can we sell any records if the people who support the record don't know when it's coming out!?".
After bringing home a 3X PLATINUM PLAQUE TOTALLY HITS LP , multiple licensing deals (EA Games: MADDEN & NBA LIVE) and even an offer from AMERICAN IDOL for Angie to be a permanent judge, the album 'Animal House' struggled. "I felt like me and Angie did our job but Elektra didn't do there's" said SACARIO.
"I went to Angie's house one afternoon and she told me that Elektra wanted another album FROM HER before they released mines! , I was f***ing heated!" he explained. "I was like F**k Elektra, they're just using me to write! They knew that they f**ked up the promotion on her album and so they wanted to hurry up and drop another Angie album to try and regroup".
Even while under contractual obligations SACARIO distanced himself from Elektra. "Far as I was concerned I wasn't gonna do s**t else for them". That following summer SACARIO started a promotional assault on Elektra equip with "Tell Elektra to let Sacario Go" T-Shirts worn by many fans and supporters throughout New York City. "It wasn't Angie's fault, and now that I look back at it it wasn't anybody's fault" says Sacario. "I realize now that it just wasn't my time and I wasn't suppose to be there".
(THE ALBUM HAS SINCE BEEN CERTIFIED GOLD BY THE RIAA FOR SALES OF OVER 500,000 COPIES)
WHAT HAS HE BEEN DOING??
2003-04 SACARIO began dabbling more into Writing, Fashion, TV and Films. He formed his own Production company 'Quiet INK Productions' and went to work. In Writing SACARIO worked on several projects with GRAMMY AWARD winning Producer 7 AURELIUS. In Fashion SACARIO and Co. teamed up on a venture with Fashion guru
ANDY HILLFIGER and JLO CLOTHING. In Television SACARIO briefly managed Actress MARCELLE LARICE (Teen Summit, Bad girls Guide) and in Film SACARIO wrote 2 Full-Feature Motion Pictures.
Keeping busy, going into 2005-06 SACARIO was officially released out of his contractual obligation with Elektra after the company folded it's Urban department. Business wise, he and Angie have parted ways but will always remain personally connected. "People think they we have some kind of beef Sacario says in regards to Angie. "They can never understand the bond we had and continue to have, ever" he said.
SACARIO worked with
SOCIALITE JADE JAGGER on PACHA IBIZA released in Europe. And back in the states he also signed a lucrative back-end deal for his work on the VH1 Hit series
'FLAVOR OF LOVE.'
And, as if he wasn't busy enough, 2007 SACARIO officially re-entered the studio as an Artist. "Timing is everything" he says. "Alot of Artists came out and people weren't ready for them initially, look at T.I, look at Lil Wayne, people forget they've released projects years ago but they didn't receive the type of response that they're receiving now."
"I feel that feeling again" SACARIO says when asked why his sudden interest in returning to the studio as an Artist. "I've been blessed with the luxury to be able to do other things, but the stars are lined up, and this is as perfect a time as it gets for me!".
At 26 years old SACARIO has built a BRAND. His remarkable work ethic, swag and attention to detail is eerily reminiscent of a 90's P.Diddy. "I always believed that to be the best you have to be better than the best" he says. "My eyes have always been looking towards the Top 2 dudes, I could care less about any other rapper".
His proof is seemingly evident. SACARIO's "return", for lack of better words to rap took no time to warm up with the people.
"YOU MAKE ME SICK" instantly inserted SACARIO back into radio and mixtape rotation across the globe almost immediately, while records like
"DO IT TO ME" clearly shows SACARIO's seemingly effortless nack for writing Hit Records.
Sounds like Jay-Z?? . . Perhaps . . Or Perhaps . . "People make that comparison because SACARIO is just that good" says Hip-Hop Legend and Brooklyn Native CLARK KENT
