Biography:In a biography you'd expect things like: Having played the guitar all his life....having a background in classical music... . But no such thing here, Double U Jay has no musical background what so ever. He just couldn't resist the sheer power and rhythm of techno music.
Inspired by artists such as Ben Sims, Charles Siegling, Max Walder, Marko Nastic, Dj Murphy, Eric Sneo and many more, he bought the necessary hardware and got going. After a while he started to get some bookings, mainly on local parties.
Then, in 2006 he got the chance to play in Belgium's hottest tech club: Koloso. He played in that club several times in 2007 as well, proving his ability to tackle multiple subgenres of techno. In the summer of 2007 the biggest gig in his 3-year career came up: Pro-Jekt Summer @ La Fabrik in Liège. He played a 1,5h set, and got tons of positive feedback afterwards. He rocked the crowd to get them ready for the Space Djz, a job well done. :). The next chapter in this story: a booking at a huge new-year’s eve event called Evolutionz. Featured in a line-up with artists such as Len Faki, Chris Hope, Amok, Marco Bailey…. Also events such as, Liberty White, an underground concept in Belgium promoting the techno-sounds was interested. It just goes to show that techno is not dead. One of Double U Jay’s goals is to keep the techno-vibe alive. Playing varied sets ranging from funky and melodic techno, the occasional jacker and some harder percussive sounds. Effects, scratches, juggling and 3-deck mixing keep the sound fresh. The next step is of course making own tracks. Since he is still a student, it is hard to find the time to do so…but the first tracks will see daylight very shortly.
These certainly are some of the highlights of his career already, at the age of 21, he has his whole life ahead of him. No doubt about it, that it will be a musical one.
