Dear
Readers of Internet,
We at wham city would like to thank everyone who helped make
Whartscape 2008 a major success. all of the hard work and poor
planning paid off. we hope you all had as good of a time as we did.
thanks so much to all the performers, volunteers, locations, local
sponsors, photographers, ravers, goths, wizards, dogs in hats,
interns, everyone who helped us clean up and impromptu helpers. for a
completely DIY festival i think we did a pretty rad job. we will take
what we have learned this year and apply it to making next years
festival even better.
A bout black dice rain out and annex show cops:
SAVE YOUR TICKETS AND WRISTBANDS! unfortunately a black-green cloud of
lightening and drizzle forced us to stop early. and although only one
band was "rained out" it was black dice, who we realize many of
you
were eagerly expecting to see. we sincerely apologize that most of our
ticket holders could not attend the sunday night after party due to
limited capacity. this was not our original intention. we had secured
a much larger space for this party but they pulled out too late for us
to find another location. the after events were always advertised as
first come first serve but we thought we would be able to have most of
you join us. also dj dog dick and who is the tunafish man could not
perform due to the massive police force that shut down the late night
sunday show.
ALL OF THESE BANDS WILL BE RESCHEDULED.
here is where it gets tricky/interesting: we are going to attempt to
honor as many attendees as possible. all of the sunday+mega pass
ticket holders (internet + paper tickets) will get into this show.
people who bought walk up tickets will be able to get in with their
wrist band. as soon as we get info on when this make up show/shows
will be we will post it on whamcity.com and our social networking
websites.
to end on a solid note: besides cops and lightning we had a great time
and were so happy to see how many people came. thanks to everyone who
has been sending us emails and coming up to us thanking us. thank you
triangles and circles. since its a totally non-profit festival our
only reward and incentive for doing this is to try to help make the
arts community of baltimore stronger and more enjoyable. thanks again,
especially the dog in the hat at the oxes show.
NOTES:
If you were bitten or scratched by the raccoon hiding in the ladies' room during the Charles Theatre show, you have our sincerest apologies. It was captured by Lizz King that evening and its head was sent to the CDC for analysis. It was not rabid.
If you bought a megapass, and attended each show and thus received a stamp for each night on the back of said megapass, you may turn in your stamped megapass and recover your soul from our garden of souls. Passes must be redeemed by August 1st.
THANK YOU!
