AMERICAN PRINCES’
OTHER PEOPLE DUE OUT APRIL 15
ON YEP ROC
“…dynamics, melodies, and real vision…â€â€“–The Onion On April 15, Yep Roc Records will release Little Rock, AR’s American Princes new full length album Other People. Their 2006 critically acclaimed Less And Less was featured in multiple year-end lists including Magnet, Blog Critics and The Onion who proclaimed, “…American Princes break modern rock into little pieces, keeping the sharp hunks that let guitarist-vocalists David Slade and Collins Kilgore slash away.†Since their formation in 2002 the band has shared the stage with The Flaming Lips, the Hold Steady and Spoon among many others.
American Princes––now a five piece with the addition of keyboardist/guitarist Will Boyd––recorded Other People in New York City at The Fireplace Studio with producer Chuck Brody (Wu-Tang Clan, Northern State, Peter Bjorn and John).“We wanted to include a bunch of weird, post-modern hooks, which made working with a predominantly hip-hop producer all the more enticing,†explains singer-guitarist Slade. Other People is comprised of 11 new tracks and include the songs Watch As They Go and Real Love which highlights the dichotomy of Collins Kilgore’s exterior story telling and Slade’s visceral laments. “A few friends have said it’s our 80’s record, but it’s probably more Tears For Fears or Tom Petty than New Order.†Slade elaborates, “Ultimately, our goal with this record was to create something bigger and more ambitious than anything we’d done prior.â€
Their previous album Less and Less debuted in the top most added on the CMJ charts. Other People will be American Princes’ fourth release and their third on Yep Roc. American Princes tour the country in April and May.
