1994-1996
At school there were alot of people starting to play and it was easy to find someone who wanted to raise a band, try to play every kind of music and make lots of noise. covers and own songs, famous songs or not were played in the easiest way as possible.
Punk was turning out bands and many of these started to win fame..grunge was dying?!
Anyway we used to ask ourselves what to do to have fun..and it came always in our mind: forming a band!
We did rehearsals already at that time at Camelot in Trofarello, the first in 6, but some left the band, so we continued with 5 mates. Well, a classic thing. drums, bass , 2guitars and lead singer.
We started with some gigs around Turin, lots of audio tapes recorded in rehearsal room with the new supercool songs that started to move around between friends. Our music wasnt really defined, but we needed to come out. Pagella rock in Turin, the first editions of Ritmika in Moncalieri, outdoor gigs in summertime and pubs or squats in winter.
We are 4 but always two guits, and besides singing now I play and the bands name changes. Now well be Broken Art (Broken Heart R.I.P. 1994-1996).
1997-1998
Starting the year we want to record some original songs but this time in multitrack, we had already recorded, but only some sessions in the rehearsals room or live in the studio.
First drums, then bass, guitars and vocals! the new 4 songs are gathered and 69 is born..the first real record in Camelot studios was a blast! well the title of the collection doesnt need extra explanations..
more gigs and more bands known, saturdays spent at Supersonik in Turin buying more and more CDs and trying to pass round our music. In 1998 our will of playing keeps on growing and some new songs are created always with the spirit of 69, songs that would never been recorded but that gain us experience in composition.. the hard work of rehearsals repays Broken Art with the winning of Ritmika in Moncalieri!!!
1999-2000
As a result we stop playing for several months!..we gotta find a bassist and a drummer to play again. We never stop and the songs we write are becoming higher, faster, louder and more personal..from the insane lyrics of the beginning we pass to some more engaged ones..i guess..apart from Madoi Madai that well record in 2000 :-)
2000-2003
After joining two new bandmates we try to develop a more and more personal style, with lyrics that tell experiences that regular people like us live each day of his own life. We keep on playing gigs with some shows out of Piedmont and meeting some new buddies from other bands.
In 2001 we record a mini CD simply titled Broken Art that obtains good reviews (Punkadeka,Munnezza on the web and some magazines) that encourage us to go on this way (perhaps with more original songs..) and in 2002 to lock ourselves in the studio to record the cd that will make the style of the band evolve.
So after many months of work at ONE VOICE STUDIO with Daniele Giordana (Sick of it all, Biohazard, Hatebreed, Madball, Agnostic Front, Suicidal Tendencies, Dropkick Murphys) during which a series of misfortunes has befallen us (from now on Broken Art will be a trio!) is given birth to IMMAGINANDO IL SILENZIO. This should be the record that represents most the band till today.
IMMAGINANDO IL SILENZIO should have been released in the end of 2003 for Kimera Records, a small indipendent label of Turin (Claudio where are you?) but a short time before that the CD would have been printed the band decides to split up, now destroyed by internal problems that crop up more and more often..
All the songs of the CD can be fully downloaded straight away; also this work is extremely well reviewed from various specialized sitesalthough the site is not advertised, sometimes people write nice messages, remarks and comments about the cd that are pleased to be received and let understand that the songs were arrived exactely where we wanted, that is to more people as possible
2004-2006
The site is maintained active for the sake of a creature that costed much labour, but thanx to the free download of the songs, IMMAGINANDO IL SILENZIO is always heard by other people, since the messages that are written on our guestbook..
2006
Things were going as usual till march of 2006 but then comes out an advertisement on the web...two kids :-) were trying to raise up a melodic hardcore band…it was the same old story, the same words and things already heard..
We played together for the first time, with nothing ready, the amps started making noise..the kids are amazing!
WOW…
Everything restarted quietly, spending lots of hours jamming and playing some songs of Immaginando il silenzio plus some covers to have some fun!
It seemed that the songs of the record had been always played by them: Luca and Yehudi
(the new bassist and drummer!)… here came the natural evolution and finally we were playing!
We thought the songs of IMMAGINANDO IL SILENZIO sounded very good in the rehearsal room! Marco gets back on the tracks written some years before…
So we decided to continue the previously interrupted project..BROKEN ART
The work has got more and more binding, the songs taken from IMMAGINANDO IL SILENZIO for our tracklist increased rapidly and 15 days of august has been spent in writing tons of new stuff and playing the songs that finally allow BROKEN ART to play IMMAGINANDO IL SILENZIO-LIVE!
...we wrote a new song called “All’Aurora†that represents the soundtrack of our rebirth. it’s a simple song, we didn’t want to add vocals so it’s an instrumental! the style is different from the other songs..but everything restarts somehow..is it right?
After years away from the scenes, finally we have come back playing live and there will be more and more live dates! With the support of many people, friends and bands we’re making our name turn around so also thanks to Not My Records (a label from Turin with bands like Not Found, Malibu Stacey, 7 Times Suicide) BROKEN ART are coming back.
The next future? Many gigs, the reprint of IMMAGINANDO IL SILENZIO, write new songs, record a new album…but we will talk about it in 2007! and the will to hear people say the name BROKEN ART!
Are we going too fast?..now everything is moving..and we’re faster! we want it all!
