About Me

AMERICA HERE I COME. I fly out to America on 26 May. Soooooo looking forward to going back to the home of 'rock n roll'. Now that I have got that out of the way, please take time to listen to some of my songs which are included on this web page. 'STILL LOVING YOU' is included on my new album 'THE POET AND I'. The title of the album is based on a song I wrote many years ago in tribute to JOHN LENNON. John once wrote "Imagine there's no heaven", and he also stated that "God is a concept by which we measure our pain". Ideas that I have come to embrace and which I hope to develop on my album. However, the track 'STILL LOVING YOU' deals with the issue of love going sour, or love that is lost. Universal subjects that most people will be able to identify with. The album itself is very mellow in tone and concentrates on melody and lyrical imagery that takes it's inspiration from BROWNING to DYLAN. But, if you want to know a little bit more about me, then read on.Tony Bailey is a singer/songwriter from south east England. He has been featured on British national television and radio and has been an active musician for many years. Among his previous bands are the Heads, Facing The Crowd and the Promise.Tony released his first C.D 'Beautiful Day' in 1996, and his first album 'Waking Up Asleep' in 1999. Recent projects include his involvement with British garage band the Bresslaws, for whom he has written some material and perfomed keyboard duties. The Bresslaws are signed to Biff Bang Pow records and have performed live on national television in Great Britain. Tony enjoys live performances and the Bresslaws have a huge European fan base. Tony has been a live performer both in England and Europe. One of the Bresslaw tracks, 'People Get Ready' is featured on this site. My Interests

Music:

Band Website: TheBresslaws.com
Band Members: Current band members in the Bresslaws include myself, Andy, Gavin, Simon and Paul.
Influences: HELLO, and welcome to my web page. This web page allows me to show off my skills as a writer, musician and vocalist. One of the songs you hear, 'STILL LOVING YOU' will feature me singing and playing guitar, bass and keyboards. All the songs are written by myself, although I CAN'T GET ENOUGH and PEOPLE GET READY do feature other musicians from a band called the Bresslaws. The Bresslaws are signed to the English record label Biff Bang Pow. The Bresslaws influences range from 60's mod to 70's new wave and punk. However, my influences are varied. There is no room in my music collection for boy bands, manufactured 'pop' idols or ex soap stars who are now 'pop' stars. I love real music, performed by real musicians, writers and vocalists. Sorry Victoria, Westlife, Kylie etc, etc.I love songwriters. My favourite writers inlcude Lennon and McCartney, George Harrison, Carol King, Paul Simon, Bob Dylan, Pete Townsend, Ray Davies, KTTunstall, Joni Mitchell, Alanis Morrisett and Brian Wilson.I LOVE the Beatles. They remain the Mozart of 20th century music. Their music is the Holy Grail of music.Nevertheless, the one album I find myself constantly playing every summer is Crosby, Stills and Nash.My current favourite album is 'Eye To The Telescope' by KTTunstall. This is an earthy, passionate collection of wonderfully crafted songs. A timeless album that will sound just as good in 20 years as it does today. KTTunstall is among my friends. A wonderful musician and a wonderful person.I prefer singer/songwriters to hour long guitar solo's and boring musical landscapes. And that is why I have included so many singer/songwriters on my page. Everyone of these writers is worth the time and effort. So check them out.Although songwriting is my main passion I also love to play the piano, the bass and lead guitar. A sample of my talents can be heard upon this web page. But writing is my main passion. And I keep an open mind to everything I hear.As such, my influences cover everything from Buddy Holly to Sly Stone, from Mozart to Marvin Gaye, from Led Zeppelin to Coldplay, and from Billie Holiday to Dido. But no Westlife!
Sounds Like: The Bresslaws take their influenece from the Who, the Prisoners, the Solar Flares, 60's 'mod', northern soul and 70's punk. We call it garage rock. Check out the Bresslaws web site.My solo work is more acoustic folk/rock. This is represented on my solo album 'The Poet And I'.
