Dj Mafia Mike was engaged in music from the early school years. First known as Kris in hip hop productions for the fcs records, he was one of creators of the hip hop music scene in Opole.Remaining under polish jazz, herbie hencock and funk music from the ’70 influence, he started to produce music hesitated between nu jazz, lounge and trip hop. Thanks to these inspirations, he created Aquarium – the legendary project with the charismatic vocalist Mr. Hide. They recorded an album at Mafia Mike’s home studio and invited one of the greatest and well known figure in polish chill out music scene – Novika to collaborate. They recorded a few tracks with Novika and gave concerts with jazz musicians. One of the concerts performed on a movie festival in Kazimierz (2003) was recognized as the most important music event of the festival. The Aquarium project appeared on many music compilations, for example Polskie Leniwe, Beach Bols, Feat Novika.
After a few month’ stay in Barcelona in 2002 and dj’s gigs in several famous clubs, Mafia Mike marveled at electro clash & tech house music, that wasn’t very popular in Poland those days. The result of that journey, apart from changing style of the music that he played as a dj, was the origin of a new music project Mafia Mike and Dominique. This project has taken a lot from modern electro style, what, with Mike’s fresh and innovative attitude to music and Dominique’s unusual voice, makes it very interesting.Simultaneously, Mafia Mike cooperate with the most popular polish dj - Adamus. At the beginning of 2005 they decided to make a new project together – Wet Fingers, which aim is refreshing polish music by sampling old hits and giving them a new modern electro- house sound. After release the second single “Hi Fi Superstar†wet Fingers succeeded in Poland, winning the highest scores on most of charts. The music tv stations Viva Poland, Mtv Poland and 4 fun tv screened Hi Fi Superstar video clip on the highest rotations.Beside commercial projects Mafia Mike is also highly valued as an underground music producer. In DJ Mag magazine his tracks take very good reviews and gained recognition of celebrities like Deep Dish, Dj Hell, Nic Fanculli, Olav Basoski and many other.Releases:Mafia Mike feat.
