Noémie Lenoir (born September 19, 1979) is a French supermodel and actress. She was born in the town of Versailles, 25km west of Paris. She is the daughter of a French father and a French mother coming from the French island of La Réunion and who, like many Réunionais, is of Madagascan descent.
Noémie was discovered at the age of 17 by a former model who took her to New York City and introduced her to various modelling agencies. This led to Noémie working with famous fashion photographers like Mario Testino and Peter Linbergh resulting in shoots being published in such magazines as Vogue, ELLE, Marie Claire, and Sports Illustrated.
In 2001 Noémie signed with L'Oréal, and has appeared in their advertisements alongside French supermodel Laetitia Casta and long-term spokesmodel and actress Andie McDowell.
More recently, Noémie has turned her attentions to acting and has had minor parts in several successful French titles and also appeared opposite Pierce Brosnan and Salma Hayek in the film After the Sunset.
Noémie is currently the face of UK high-street retailer Marks and Spencer, and can be seen in various magazines and billboards alongside fellow models Twiggy and Laura Bailey.

Litterally it means "The black" but it is in fact the equivalent of the English last name Black in the Francophonie, considering the different use of articles in both languages.
