Marc Severson Lucas was born in Bremerton WA. Shortly after I moved to Alameda CA. After passing through Richmond VA and Oakland CA. While attending school and even after graduation, music was already a big part of my life.
As a little boy, my sister would take me to choir rehearsal at Pastor Ray Macks church in Oakland, this is where I found and nourished my love for music and thus began my journey. The rehearsals where long and hard, but really fun and educating. I would attend rehearsal weekly while strengthening my vocals.
I remember a guy in the church choir helping me to write my first poem which I later gave to a girl in the choir. When she opened the letter and read the poem, a smile came across her face and she walked over to me and gave me a big hug and kiss! That was a beautiful time in my life as well as a learning experience. At that moment in my life, I learned that words are a powerful force and I wanted to express myself using this powerful tool and eventually go on to express myself through music!!
Under the direction of a great choir director Patrick Sturgeous a Gospel Recording Artist, I began to excel. Through him and many other musical inspirations, I horned in on my skills as a singer.
I was about 16, when I joined the Voices of Gospel under the direction of Marva Lyons. In 1992, our Choir traveled to Magic Mountain theme park in Los Angeles, CA to do a performance. That was my first time singing a duet in front of thousands of people who gave us their undivided attention. The rush I got from singing a lead position and being in front of thousands of people was a high like no other.
In 1995, I answered an ad in the paper to audition for a music group called Arrival. I passed my audition with flying colors. While a part of this great music venture, Jerry the director of the group taught me the importance of music and theatrics as a whole and how they go hand and hand. Shortly after leaving the group I wrote my first song titled "Rainy days", and a second song titled "Brown Eyes" which had become a local hit.
After leaving Arrival, I took a break from doing music to complete school and attend training classes as well as earn a living. In 2001 I decided that it was time to pick up the pen and start expressing myself again through music!! To be honest thats where my heart lies and I was always told by my mother to follow my heart, and so I did. In March of 2004, I jumped on the opportunity to do some acting and I participated in a gospel play. The show was a hit and I got recognized as a true vocalist and a striving actor.
Theres no doubt that Lucas can bring it to you fast or slow. One thing is sure, this Virgo is defiantly ready to rock the world!
