The Pollen Choir

About Me

The almost reclusive Cole and his loyal band of sympathisers, The Pollen Choir, are in an extremely explorative, road-humming, powerful mood on this, the band's third and most assured release, 'Last Trip to the Sun.' From the opening primal urgency of the cryptic South American-influenced 'Queimada Island and the Lighthouse Keeper,' to the chilling centrepiece 'The Addison Fires.' Then to the plaintive and sweet 'Inheritence' and closing with the mesmeric title track, The Pollen Choir take us on a vivid, pre-dawn dream of dogs, dead cats, death, redemption, time hurting and ruling, cubby houses and the view from a cliff into the setting sun when you're wondering where all your days are going. On 'Last Trip to the Sun,' Cole finds an abundance of new musical worlds while crystalising personal history with affecting story-telling. It's a winning combination as the band delve into hypnotic arrangements, bringing their talents much further to the fore, yet never overburdening the songs with clutter. A now reticent live act, The Pollen Choir will only be playing one home town show later in the year. It is doubtful that Cole in particular will be trekking through Australia's inner-city pubs in the near future. Finding more nourishment in record rarities than a bottom of the barrel pot of beer, Cole is planning to continue his writing, putting out albums very regularly. The Pollen Choir give us the mightily impressive 'Last Trip to the Sun.'
