THE KINGCROWS

FAST, FURIOUS, FILTHY, FUN...

About Me

THE KINGCROWS formed in early 2006, as the result of an extended period where drummer RATBAG, a veteran of the Leeds rock scene (ex-Sticky Fingers, Assassination Bureau and many more), struggled to put together a new band after the dissolution of The Poison Hearts at the end of 2004. The plan was to form a band who combined the energy of punk, the flash of sleaze and the sheer reckless abandon of being in a band with no aspirations towards a career or commercial acceptance - simply the rush of playing noisy, filthy rock 'n' roll for the pure hell of it. After several false starts (including the formation of the ill-fated Casanova Frankenstein), a chance meeting with old buddy and former Dead Bard's Ghost bandmate LEE J at an Alice Cooper gig put the project back on track. With Lee firmly installed on guitar, the search was on for the rest of the lineup. The next recruit was former Poison Hearts frontman/guitarist RUSTY; although in the process of forming his own band, Rusty agreed to vocalise for the new band until a permanent replacement could be found, and even learnt to play bass for the project. The fourth link in the chain came with the addition of lead guitarist ALEX, the youngest member of the band and the only one never to have played in a band before.Unfortunately, just as the band were about ready to gig, Rusty was forced to quit due to personal circumstances and the need to concentrate on forming his own act. A protracted search of the local area resulted in the recruitment of punk-as-fuck vocalist TONY (ex-The Outpatients) and big bad bassman BOB (ex-Hooked). The band finally made their live debut, supporting Phluid in the rock 'n' roll metropolis of Selby, shortly before Christmas '06 and quickly became a much-in-demand live band. However, after seven shows, Alex decided to leave the band to concentrate on his own project Cherry Hooker. Potential replacements were looking scarce, until the band were contacted by ex-Rattled Cage guitar slinger ZEBS; it quickly became apparent that this was quite definitely the right man for the job, his lead freakouts and stage antics fitting the band perfectly. Unfortunately, no sooner had Zebs got settled in, than bassmaster Bob was forced to leave the band due to pressing personal circumstances. For months we searched in vain, and then (as is so often the case with these things) three candidates turned up at once. It was a hell of a difficult choice to make, but eventually we settled upon Rickenbacker-wielding Penrith exile ROCCO RADCLIFFE (ex-No Thrills). Now we're back and looking to tear up as many stages as possible! ************************************************************ **... ............................................................ ................
