Soli Deo Gloria!

About Me

I am majoring in Church Music, but plan to go on to obtain my Master's in Piano Performance someday, and then maybe even a doctorate in music. I am slightly interested in vocal coaching. I've been playing the piano for nearly 12 years, and I also sing in choir. I love writing, reading, photography, and making movies, as well as tinkering around with painting and drawing. I enjoy classical music, as well as some Broadway, jazz, and some new age. Some of my favorite composers are Beethoven, Chopin, Rachmaninoff, John Rutter, and Brahms. My favorite vocalists are Renee Fleming, Sarah Brightman, and Haley Westenra. My all-time favorite Broadway production is The Phantom of the Opera, though I also enjoy "Into the Woods". I also love movie soundtracks of all sorts (especially Howard Shore's music from "The Lord of the Rings"), and I love the group "Secret Garden". I am a 2005 Missouri Fine Arts Academy Alumnist; it taught me much about music and myself as a musician and a person. My parents have always been very supportive of me, as well as all my music teachers. I have God to thank for everything He has ever given me and everything He has done for me. * "Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God's grace in its various forms." 1 Peter 4:10 *

Band Members: Melissa (a.k.a. "Piano Girl")
Influences: I love Beethoven, Chopin, Rachmaninoff, Mozart, John Williams, John Rutter... the list goes on. My first piano teacher was only six years older than me, and I took lessons from her for ten years, so she really gave me the foundation I needed. I then studied with Dr. Mark Laverty for a year (website: www.marklaverty.com), and I am currently studying with Professer Kuang-Hao Huang (www.khpiano.net) at Concordia University, Chicago.
