At a time when rock music returned in a raw and aggressive way, four guys decided to pick up instruments and form a band, too. It was rather the idea itself than abilities that kept us together. However, we developed. After the first sessions, the roles within the band were assigned and we began to write songs. Those were certainly influenced by the grunge heroes but also by the likes of Sonic Youth, Fugazi and The Pixies. Soon we found our own musical expression that is based on noisy guitars, raw drums and aggressive vocals. After some experiments, Ralf Klein-Kretzschmar joined the band as bass player. His style became noisy too. The band developed their sound following the musical tendencies throughout the years without holding on to a certain style. Just the odd influence here and there, the most important of which seemed to be Shellac. Others such as dEUS, June of 44, Karate, The Hot Snakes and many more are not always noticeable, but important to us. After all, our biggest influence and at the same time our highest goal is guitar-driven rock music that combines an angry sound with fierce melodies.
A guy told us recently: "Your name is well chosen! Your sound is like being hit in the face with a high-pressure-cleaner." That was certainly not on our minds when we chose it. It was actually the name of a former local factory that produced screws. However, it's a welcome connotation.
In recent years, we lost our guitarrist Axel Binder and our drummer Patrick Kiefer due to the temptations of the academic labor market. The second guitar has not been replaced. Alexander Schimetzky from the infamous Saarbrücken-based band "Chandler" has been playing the drums since 2005.
Team Karcher are now:Dietmar Bottler (vox.), Uwe Schmitt (guit.) Ralf Klein-Kretzschmar (bass) and Alexander Schimetzky (drums)
