Redefining Ourselves....

About Me

We're not your ordinary type of band - That would be too easy!
We aren’t a regular, headline-gigging band yet as we are still in the writing stages hoping to get enough, high calibre material together, confining our performances to open-mic nights and local support slots before launching ourselves on the general public.
Currently consisting of Eoin James & Papa Pyjama and joined by Niall McCarthy on drums.
Coming from different musical backgrounds, one an 80's rock guitar maestro who' s influences include "Journey", "Whitesnake" and "White Lion;" the other a folk and ballad enthusiast who learned to the music of "Paul Simon" and "Christy Moore," together they create a unique and refreshing sound which, while being original, feels like an old trusted friend. With melodies and chord progressions developed through their combined thirty years live gigging experience, they have credibility which gives their music back to the listener.
Every song is different, drawing inspiration from rock, blues, funk, ballads and sometimes country(ish). Emersons Kitchen believe in the "good song" irrespective of genre.
Having met originally about 10 years ago while working in the same music store, Eoin & Shane never considered playing as a band, both being involved in the local cover's scene for many years. Then in early 2006 they got together on an ad-hoc basis to develop a few ideas - still with no intentions of becoming a 'Band'. That just seemd to happen by accident.
As slightly more seasoned and mature musicians, long gone are the egos that consume many new bands. Eoin and Shane have been there, done the that, got the tee-shirts and the headaches. We have developed through experience and passion, playing songs that we want to play, but which also consider the listener.
Other Information
To date we have recorded a six-track demo CD containing the tracks "Shine", "Home Sweet Homicide", "In Your Arms", "Love Lies", "My Reason" and "Baby Jane". Every track has received substantial airplay on Irish local radio.
On hearing "Baby Jane" played on the radio while on his way to work we were invited into studio by the legendary, Eurovision Songcontest winner, Charlie McGettigan on Shannonside Northern Sound Radio for a studio interview and live performances on his "Saturday Connections" programme.
We have also been interviewed on radio by Marie O’Riordan on Kildare’s KFM "Artyfacts" programme (sharing the honour on the night with Luan Parle) and topped the listeners poll 4 weeks running on WLRFM (Waterfords) Roddie Cleere’s Irish Nightlife MySpace Top 8 with "Baby Jane".
But we don’t just write for our own live performance, however, and are also available for commissions such as jingles, promos and soundtrack in addition to songs for general publishing so anyone interested should contact us.
