STATE OF MIND is an Italian progressive metal band. It rises in the summer of 2002 from ashes of prog-rock band Portareca, even if the project State, regarding the previous one, is characterized from the beginning for a greater consciousness and a stronger will to pursue the objects of the four founders (Alex Agolini, Cristian Agolini, Mirko Lambruschi and Nicola Denti). The name is clear: STATE OF MIND because everything happens and it sorround us is simply a 'state of mind'.Since the October of 2002 they have been giving themselves up body and soul to the realization of the work, whose they completed the recording (July 2005), which title is "Pygmalion and his images". The music is a mixture of progressive metal, use of unusual time signatures, excursions light more classic metal, phrenetic and complex rhythms, experimentation and it is characterized by numerous changes of atmospheres. The text takes origin from the myth of Pygmalion of Ovidio in his masterpiece 'The Metamorphosis' and it is subdivided in four parts, whose titles are taken from the myth's version of Pygmalion created by the english painter Edward Burne Jones. The entire album has been recorded in collaboration with the study producer Fausto Tinello(www.wyvern.it) who has played bass in the EP.Highly recommended to lovers of progressive music and especially prog metal.
