About Me

When they ask "Is Baltimore ever going to blow?" only a few local artist will really understand the question and out of that bunch you may have one who is the the answer to the question. For Heavy Gold being the answer is not just a job he has been training for, its a burden he is willing to carry."I always knew I could make it but being from this city (Baltimore) you learn early on to live for today and deal with tomorrow, tomorrow! I mean, I could sit here for days and feed you the reality about family on drugs, being shot or firing back at my enemies, selling bricks, and spending time in jail etc... but where I'm from, that would be like telling somebody the sun was coming out in the morning ......... Everybody knows already!"For many in his community these are common daily occurrences but not all are blessed to have a gift such as Heavy's. It would be early in his childhood that he would come to discover his love for rap but it would take him a few more years of watching artist from his city get signed then watch them symbolically fall off the face of the planet and a chance run in with producers Kuntre' and Mike Milz (of Stay Gettin' Productions who are two of Baltimores most credited producers with a host of industry credits as well as a gold plaque for Cam'rons "PURPLE HAZE" album) that Heavy would realize that he would have to put himself first and go after his own dream."I met Milz at a studio we used to have. He was engineering for us and I knew he was already making moves in the industry and after recording some songs for a mix-tape I was working on, him and Kuntre' approached me about signing to their company"The venture would turn south when Stay Gettin' got overwhelmed with work and a new deal with Def-Jam for their artist Young Leek."It was like they just forgot about me. But, we stayed in contact and then I got caught up in those streets and had to go to jail for a minute, but I would talk to Milz from jail and he would tell me when I got home he wanted me to help with Young Leeks album and as soon as I touched down thats what I did."After Leeks album was done They went on to focus on Heavy's project entitled "IF NOT THIS, THEN WHAT". As Kuntre' put it; "Milz and I were in the studio one night and just finished a track when we looked at each other and said "Heavy would kill this shit". That track would come to be his first single "WHO DAT (PAGING ME)". The album really lets you inside of Heavy's head on songs like "Drug Dealer" where he gives a vivid story about surviving in the drug game of Baltimore City, and "Murda An Da Dope" where he lets it be known what his city is known for but with insight on what is really going on and not just what you see on t.v., he also blows you away with songs like "WHAT WOULD IT BE LIKE" and "I AIN'T PLAYIN' WIT CHA" where it is clear that if they say "Hip-Hop is dead" Heavy Gold is here and ready to bring it BACK!!!
