Biography of Jackie Jones
Mr. Jones began dancing at the age of 17. He attended Emerson School for the Visual and Performing Arts in Gary, Indiana where he majored in vocal music. While attending EVPA Mr. Jones won 1st place gold medals for solo voice three years in a row and had leading roles in every musical theater play. Mr. Jones learned every style of classical music from german, italian, french, to spanish. During his senior year in high school, God birthed yet another gift in his life, DANCE. Upon graduation Mr. Jones attended Columbia College Chicago with only three months of training and excelled in every dance concert at columbia. He was awarded a full scholarship to Joel Hall Dance Academy in Chicago studying ballet, graham, horton,and jazz with such instructors as Joel Hall, Merrick Murray, Kirby Reed, and Ray Mercer. He also was awarded a full apprenticeship program with Deeply Rooted Dance Theater where he studied with choreographers such as Elana Anderson, and Kevin Iega Jeff. His overall goal is to minister to the hearts of people and to come against the sterotypes of male dancers in the church. Dance, singing, and teaching the gospel is his passion.He is currently a member of Mount Calvary Baptist Church in Chicago,Illinois under the leadership covering of Pastor Tyrone Crider & 1st Lady Regina Crider. He serves as the assistant dance leader of Kairos Dance Ministry and as the Youth Choir Director.Aside from dancing, directing, choreographing, Mr. Jones is also apart of one of the GREATEST, ANOINTED, Music Ministries in the world MIN. DEXTER D. WALKER & ZION MOVEMENT! He serves as the financial advisor (treasurer lol) for the ministry. Mr. Jones has a heart and love for that ministry. He's often categorized as the CRAZY, ENERGETIC, BUT QUIET MEMBER LOL!He loves to direct, sing, dance, and teach. Eclectic Movement With Praise [EMWP] was founded in 2004 by Jackie A. Jones, Jr. EMWP is a ministry incorporating the technical forms of dance with spiritual expression, completely surrendering to God in praise. We are a group of young adults who have trained for years,and/or months but all love to dance and are anointed with the gift. The ministry was originally forme to raise money for a scholarship fund, which was dedicated to the founder, Jackie Jones Jr. As God was molding this group of young people together, he changed Mr. Jones vision and revealed his vision.
In May 2004, Eclectic Movement presented their first dance production/workshop entitled " Breaking the Barrier". It was a huge success, and over 200 people came out and supported this ministry. "Breaking the Barrier" exemplified exactly what EMWP means. To break the walls of dance in our churches,and separate from the secular movement.
The objective of Eclectic Movement is to reach out to lost souls, build up praise dance ministries in churches across the country, and to create an artistic environment full of worship where individuals can be free in movement.
The vision is to open a dance academy training students in liturgical dance, develop a scholarship fund for dancers and college students and to fulfill the will of God!
Through enhancing the knowledge of the art of dance forms and styles, we ultimately seek to capture the pure essence of dance expression and contribute to one’s ministry, community, and personal well being.
