Oh yes... I like to learn.... I like to at least LEARN one new thing every day!
I'd like to meet:
I'm up to always making new friends and aquaintances. You never know who will become a friend for life. You also take a piece of knowledge from every individual you cross paths with. Something to be learned from everyone on this earth. My Friend Bobby Diablo just sent me this video from his old KASR TV Video Show days. This is a video he did of him and I at the old KUKQ Studios back in 1994. What was with the Head Rag on my Head...??????
Music:
Music is the soundtrack to my life. I was the guy who would make a tape or CD and give it to a girl. Just like the guy in High Fidelity, I would make tapes. I would catagorize my collection by whom I was dating at the time I was into that piece of audio art.I have recently discovered a passion for newer bands like Brand New, Amy Winehouse, Silversun Pickups, Modest Mouse, Muse among others. I have rediscovered bands like Catherine Wheel, Dredge, Sunny Day Real Estate, Tool, The Cure, Depeche Mode, Stone Roses, and Mighty Lemon Drops. Of course, I have a passion for the Classics as well as you can tell, I have a passion for everything that is Pink Floyd. Love the Stones, Zeppelin, Beatles, R.E.M., Steely Dan, AC/DC, Ozzy, Aerosmith, Pantera, Metallica, Megadeth, Love a lot of the fun 90's stuff like Skid Row, Cinderella, Warrant (OK, maybe not so much Warrant or Poison), Cheap Trick, etc. I like a bit o'country too. Mom and Dad turned me on to that when I was a child. So what I like runs the course of the classic stuff. Johhny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Merle Haggard, The Highwaymen, Willie Nelson and newer stuff like Toby Keith, Garth Brooks and Dwight Yoakum. Let's not forget Hank III and the Supersuckers... (long live Eddie Spaghetti) Depends on my mood. Love the chill out stuff too like Enigma, Death In Vegas and Moodswings. Music is the great healer. It is the motivator, the unifier. When I hear a song that hits me lyrically, I know that I am not alone in the world. Someone else feels the way I do, and for an instant I find solace that some else gets it. For awhile there, I lost the passion for the Music, so I lost my passion for love and life. In th elast couple of years, I reignited my passion for music, and now I have the zest to live with all the happiness & surprise, etc, that can be expressed with a simple lyric and a chord behind it. I found this recently, and it expresses everything. The music is helping me find myself again. Music is freedom that relentlessly exists Freedom of speech Freedom of thought Freedom of creativity Freedom of imagination Music is ever soothingly healing A bombardment of on-going expression of feelings Music is a tool of unity Always bringing people together as family Hence be described as a mentor of spirituality Music is magic Performing its tricks With sweet instrumental tones and lyrics Music is emotionally captivating Music is positively distracting Music is a form of beautiful art Passed on as a message on a public stage Music is as powerful as water Flowing in and out of generations Trapped ever so often only by its own enormous power Music is an angel Singing out from the skies as she flies Music is love Music is the food of all moods Music is perfect and it is good for youLet's just say that I own over 10,000 CD's at last count. And a few thousand tapes, and a ton of LP's. A big thrill for me has always been to be that person who finds new music and turns people onto it. I never thought as a kid , I would get to do that on a daily basis as an adult. I used to make radio stations on a reel to reel with my sister as a kid. Now I get to do for real as an adult. Wierd , how dreams can come true if you work hard and perservere. I love Music!

Books:
George R. Stewart's "Earth Abides", probably one of the greatest Science Fiction Stories ever written, if not one of the greatest Novels. What would happen if mankind no longer had a profound effect on the planet, and was reduced to just a small population. How would the planet adjust with the ecosystems. How would religions form? This is the post apocolyptic future without roving biker gangs, and Mad Max Style theatrics. This is a serious novel that you should pick and read..
Steven King, Nick Hornsby, Ann Rice, etc.
like to read a good pop novel, and then a good classic. I read as much as I can read when I have time.oh.. How can I forget.. The Doonsberry of the 80's.. The comic that started the Opus Series..
Bloom County...
Read these in college and recently re-read the Books put together with all the strips.. what a GREAT Pop culture History of the 80's!! Opus does a good job in the Sunday comics skewering Pop Culture today as well!
Heroes:
On a Personal level, My Mother who has faced more adversity than anyone I know and is the better for it! Also my sister Jill and her husband ... They are dealing with some heavy tribulations now..but are stronger for it! The rest of my Friends and Family too, cause they put up with me.
Professionally, Curtiss Johnson and Jonathan L; who both mentored me and took me under their prospective wings, until I was ready to fly!
other heroes... people who fight for what they believe in.
and of course my Mentors in life and in career... Curtiss Johnson, Jonathan L, Ernesto Gladden, and JJ Jeffries, amnong others I have worked with and learned from over the years!
... and anybody who has been a victim of a violent crime... My family has been through the tragedy of homicide and robbery, and I hope you never have to go though that horror yourself. Anybody who is a victim (including family)is a hero, because you are a survivor.
STOP THE VIOLENCE!
