Heavy Metal Universe :
If the selfproduced debut "Insanity in the depths" was an excellent piece of underground death metal, "Delights of the despicable" presents HECATOMBIC as one of the best French brutal death metal act. More powerful, more violent, more extreme than the previous work, this album delivers some very versatile devastating death metal. Indeed, tracks are very different from each other, but always beautifully inspired. Some guitar-soli, bass solo and (few) acoustic harmonies are also present to calm the game from time to time, but all in all it ends as a real butchery, with many changes of rythms, a tentacular hammering drummer and really clever musicians able to compose and execute things such as a blasting 4 munutes long death metal intrumental (Desolated). An excellent work for every brutal death addicts, and a real debauchery of energy !INSANITY IN THE DEPTHS - 2002 - Self production - 9 songs - 31,31 min - 250 Ex...To download songs - visit our website - discography page - click on covers
Heavy Metal Universe :
Definitely, France has an incredibly great pool of underground death metal bands. After combos such as KABBAL, RECUEIL MORBIDE or ANTAGONY, the turn has come today for HECATOMBIC to show us what they are able to do. And well, this first selfproduced record makes me believe that the band won't stay hidden in the dark side of the scene for eternity. The death metal it proposes is terribly efficient and gathers the brutality of traditional death metal with some melodic, acoustic or Scandinavian sounding passages (the instrumental 'Withered Land' has some rythms which are pretty close to some AT THE GATES). Tracks are varied, intense and leave the place to no approximation, so that early death metal fans will find here something good enough to have a cool half-an-hour. Add to this a pretty good sound for a demo, a high sense of catchy riff and technical skill, and there's nothing more to say except this : "good work guys, hope it will continue !"
