PIPES & BUMS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

About Me

In May of 2005, the Colonel David B. Kelly Ancient Order Of Hibernians Middlesex County Division ..1, South Amboy NJ, set forth in motion the necessary steps to start its own pipes and drums band. With the vision of Hibernian member and bagpiper Billy O'Leary and experience of instructors John "Jock" Nisbett and Bill Gordon, the plan was in motion. Through the summer and into the fall of 2005 the practices were endless and the band started coming together. On the evening of November 8th 2005 at the very first band meeting, The Col. D.B. Kelly Pipes & Drums Band was officially established, with Ed O'Shaughnessy as pipe major and Brian Noble as band manager. Currently our pipe major is Bill McGee after Ed O'Shaughnessy stepped down. Another historic day in the history of the band was March 4th 2006, on this day we played our very first parade: Mount Holly, NJ St. Patricks Day Parade. After a rocky start the band finished up on a high note. The mission was complete. Now after many parades, personal performances, and practices the Col D.B. Kelly Pipes & Drums is looking forward to a prosperous future. The mission of the Col. D.B. Kelly Pipes & Drums is to promote Irish-American heritage through traditional Irish, American, and Scottish music. Some of our tunes include The Minstrel Boy (Irish), Molly Darlin' (Irish), God Save Ireland (Irish), Danny Boy (Irish-American), Marine Corp Hymn (American), Caissons (American), Over There (American), Anchors Aweigh (American), America (American), God Bless America (American), Amazing Grace, Blue Bells of Scotland (Scottish), Will Ye No Come Back Again(Bonnie Prince Charlie) (Scottish). Our music selection is constantly growing as we are always learning new tunes. Our uniform is of military style which consists of traditional kilts in the Irish-American tartan, military horse hair sporrans, white spats, and black military beret's fashioned after the Northern Irish Army's. Our band is made up of people from all walks of the community: from police officers, firefighters, electricians, businessmen, and other professions.Anyone interested in learning to play the bagpipes or drums feel free to send us a message and we will get back to you.
