NOVA Firefighter's Emerald Society Pipe Band

Fire Fighting Irish

About Me

History The band was established in 1984 by members of the Fairfax County Fire & Rescue Department. Their debut performance was in the Alexandria St. Patrick's Day parade in 1985. Since then the band has grown to have members from all walks of life from civilians to volunteer firefighters from Loudoun and Prince William to DEA agents and military personnel. It has become a diverse group but with a common goal. To support the brave men and women of the fire service.
Band Mission 1. To provide service to local, state and National Fire Service events.
2. To provide service to the community, and strengthen our combined cultural identity through the promotion of the music of the bagpipes and drums.
3. To provide educational and cultural opportunities to our members with emphasis on Irish pipe music and Celtic culture.
4. To provide instruction to new members in pipe and drum music.
5. To perpetuate competent piping and drumming skill, with particular emphasis on the Irish tradition, as well as to explore other Gaelic cultures and musical forms.National Fallen Firefighter's Memorial Weekend It is the band's greatest honor to be the host band for the National Fallen Firefighter's Memorial Weekend.
A time to honor all then men and women in the United States that made the ultimate sacrifice.

FIRE FIGHTER’S PRAYER When I am called to duty, God
Wherever flames may rage
Give me strength to save a life
Whatever be its age.
Let me embrace a little child
Before it is too late
Or save an older person from
The horror of that fate.
Enable me to be alert
And hear the weakest shout, and quickly and efficiently
To put the fire out.
I want to fill my calling
To give the best in me,
To guard my friend and neighbor
And protect their property.
And, if, according to your will,
While on duty I must answer death’s call;
Bless with your protecting hand
My family, one and all.
