Vermouth Time

Vermouth Time es un cuarteto de Soul-Jazz nacido en 2006. La música de Vermouth Time se basa en composiciones originales que recrean el espíritu del Soul-Jazz que se popularizó en los años ‘60. La formación cuenta con el instrumento característico de este estilo: el Organo Hammond. Victor Puertas cumple dos funciones con el Hammond: la de instrumento armónico y la de bajo. A la batería, Raül Lorenzo reparte groove con generosidad. Delante, Marc Mena a la trompeta y composición y Sergi Franch al Saxo Tenor, despeinan las primeras filas con sus ráfagas de fuego. Vermouth Time ha actuado en salas como el Jamboree, la Nova Jazz Cava de Terrassa o la Jazz Cava de Vic dentro del Circuit Ressons Jazz Tardor 2007, así como la sala Siroco (Madrid) o Angel Blau (Andorra). También ha sido incluido en el Ciclo Vermut Jazz organizado por l’Auditori (BCN) y el Festival de Jazz de Arenys de Mar. Actualmente, Vermouth Time esta preparando el que será su primer trabajo discográfico.
The quartet was born with the intention of doing a work of recuperation and recreation of a style: the Soul-Jazz. This style was born in the sixties and appeared occasionally in a few jazz LPs. Lee Morgan had a commercial success with his hit “The Sidewinder”. There were other musicians like Lou Donaldson, Jimmy Smith, Duke Pearson, Blue Mithchell o Donald Byrd that contributed to the style. In the seventies, this music evolved to funk.Vermouth Time’s repertoire consists of some covers and original compositions. As a result of an exhaustive work of searching, Vermouth Time has build his repertoire faithful to the vintage style. After analyzing and understanding the elements that identifies this music, we have composed an original repertoire recreating the feeling of the sixties.The instrumentation is also faithful to the style. At the Hammond organ, Victor Puertas brings to you a wide range of colors and textures and plays two roles: harmonic instrument and bass. At the drums, Raul Lorenzo is generous with the groove, using a lot of energy. In the front line, Marc Mena at the trumpet and Sergi Franch at the tenor sax astonish the audience with its fire bursts.
