I first got struck to write rhymes when I saw Rakim rapping "I Ain't No Joke". From there I went on to make beats and form a little crew called "Beats and Pieces" in Christchurch, New Zealand with some guys called Antsman and DJ Pause. In 1997 I formed a band called Breaks Co-op with Zane Lowe and we released the album Roofers. Then we went to the UK. While there I did all kinds of crazy stuff, including rhyming at the legendary Apricot Jam, providing the Nextmen with samples, being in a band called DOG, rhyming and writing for TUBBS, getting married, getting divorced and finally making another Breaks Co-op album called The Sound Inside. It ain't Hip Hop but it's heart is. Now I'm living in Berlin and I keep looking at this mpc and thinking "maybe it's time for once round the mic?" Let's see what happens... -
