STYLO PROHIBIDO first came together in Hackney, East London (E5) during the summer of 1999, since then we have been doing our thing (MALTRATANDO TUS OIDOS- MISTREATING YOURS EARS) to the maximum, smashing a lot of events across the UK spreading the contagious flavour.
STYLO PROHIBIDO arrive to EL BARRIO by Tren Lechero (Milky train) and take you on an exciting adventure through a marginal galaxy of rebel attitude,
sharp lyrics and a tight rumba flow over Roll-Xs intoxicated beats and original production. There are sad moments too, like in any barrio, and a typical sense of humour that soothes the journey’s earache and makes you feel like you are on the Cuban streets.
Each track is a new chapter with a different flow (script) that goes with it, experimenting on different musical styles such as Jazz, Funk, Rock and Timba(salsa).
So, come along and Jump (Brinca) to one of the singles of the album BRINCA, a bouncing tune like a tennis ball with a middle eastern (Egyptian) riff. Stylo Prohibido are currently working on their second album, mixtapes and other projects.
*EXTRA NOTE: STYLO PROHIBIDO is not your average Latin hip-hop crew: We know what time it is when it comes to the mainstream urban Latin scene worldwide, so we try to please the public and give them what they want, but we DO NOT follow trends! We can come out with totally unexpected approach to make our STYLE PROHIBITED!!! We make sure the crowd is entertained with something FRESH and ORIGINALl!!!

El Barrio is the debut album from the UK act Stylo Prohibido, recognised as being one of the pioneers of Latin Hip Hop in the UK. Greenpapi, from Guantanamo and Roly, from Havana, brought the two different sides of Cuba together in 1999 to form Stylo Prohibido. With four years in production, El Barrio offers something new to the UK Latin Hip Hop movement. Through the 21 tracks Stylo Prohibido take us on a journey visiting the Cuban barrio lifestyle, each track with its own very different vibe, sampling styles such as Jazz, Rock, Salsa and Funk. The impressive production comes from Roll-X (Red Smoke Family Productions), a name already known in the UK Hip Hop and Grime scene. Many of the lyrics are a clever play on words, leaving you thinking about their multiple meanings, their different backgrounds give an interesting flow to the lyrics, with Greenpapi more laid back style, while Roly has a more rough and urban flavour. The album is a very promising step for UK Latin Hip Hop; lets hope this is just the beginning of something big.
