I am a citizen-of-the-Earth sort of American, a student breaking my body to earn my education. I am a workaholic. I love science and History. I have a deepening interest in New World cultures prior to European contact. If all goes as planned and I get my education, then I hope to practice as an Exobiologist. Its the perfect career for someone like me - I have a morbid fascination with various forms of life that defy conventional wisdom, requisite requirements, and general categorical essentialist attitudes. I firmly believe that the most important event we can focus on as a species (aside from soiling our home planet to the point of poison) is the inevitable contact with life outside of Earth. If we are to predict where life will be in the universe and ultimately understand what forms it will take, then understanding our "border" life here is a much needed study. Tarantulas that care for their young and snakes that give live birth, food chains that live around hot springs on the ocean floor without sunlight, mammals that lay eggs, plants that eat animals, etc...this is my bread and butter, you see. I'm also a great deal interested in the presence of hydrocarbons on other worlds, mainly the moon Titan and the planet Mars, since the presence of which may indicate a possible biological origin.I love to read, but have to make an effort to read fiction sometimes. As long as there is intelligence and discussion in it, fiction can be both useful and interesting and for me, therefore, enjoyable. So, I tend to drift toward Science Fiction or fiction stressing social issues. I can read history like it was a bedtime story. I am currently reading Howard Zinn, Charles C. Mann, Frank Waters, Jake Page, and other histories/anthropological surveys on the "New World" cultures. Frank Waters' 'The Book of the Hopi' is what I am in right now.
