About Me

I was once told that I "exist half way between deep throat and Disneyland"(c)Mr Wardle. What a fantastic summing up, and yes, it's prob quite true - my brain flicks between images of wet men and fluffy kittens! But with good doses of compassion and ethics thrown in too... after all 'Vegans go all the way!'.I live in Brighton, which I love, especially as a fantastic place to bring up a vegan child, but I miss my home town of Edinburgh, and my old friends. I also miss working for an organisation I believe in (Viva!) and being part of a group of friends - I've found as time goes on you pick up great friends, from different parts of your life, but they become scattered all over the place, and you can sometimes find yourself feeling alone, though you know you have people elsewhere who would love to see you as much as you'd love to see them. When MySpace sets up the teleporter it will be a great day! :-)If I could change one thing about myself it would probably be to have clear ambition and drive. I have always felt that as I don't know where I want to end up, I therefore haven't been sure what way to travel... But Viva! was a dream job and taught me LOADS about me and my capabilities and after leaving and a couple of years of directionlessness, I'm now qualified as an exercise to music instructors, and have just started to cover classes, Gawd help me, or rather them - the poor attendees! I pursued this path partially because I'm interested in diet and health, but also because of the little bonus that I get to wear a little headset microphone - like Madonna! :-) Men in little tight shorts bending over? Never even crossed my mind! ;-) Though you'd think that's what I'm thinking about while instructing, what with all my heavy breathing! Must improve ones stamina and set a good example...I love MySpace and being given the opportunity to be 'friends' with so many members of bands I used to see live regularly in the 80s. My affection for them has never wavered, and I'm having a fabulous second wind communicating with some of them again! And ending on a few of my favourite quotes: All it takes for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing. If you're not part of the solution you're part of the problem. There's enough for the world's need but not the world's greed. We do not inherit the earth, we borrow it from our children. Hmmm... My Interests

Animal rights, Fair Trade and ethical consumerism, diet and fitness, music and films.

I'd like to meet:

Noone really, and certainly not weirdos! Mainly here to keep up to date with the bands I like, some of their fans, and a choice few surprise and welcome faces from the past. Though Horst Buchholz lookalikes VERY welcome to get in touch! ;-)

Music:

Blondie, Deborah Harry, a-ha, The Everly Brothers, Magne F, Savoy, Morten Harket, Voice of the Beehive, Dollshouse, Veldt, Franz Ferdinand, Pulp, Space, The Divine Comedy, Morrissey, The Lightning Seeds, Kula Shaker, The Jeevas, The Delays, Then Jerico, T'Pau, Skin Games, Perfect Day, River City People, Tracey Ullman, Madonna (espec Patrick Leonard era, and Evita era), Exhibit-1, bippy boppy girly pop, proper guitar bands, and some electronic if it's quality - like Depeche Mode or Gary Numan style! And music from films or musicals such as Blood Brothers, My Fair Lady, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Fiddler on the Roof, The Jungle Book, Grease, The Wizard of Oz, Sweeney Todd, etc

Movies:

Desperately Seeking Susan (and how much do I love the musical with Blondie songs?! Totally! :-) ), Disney's Sleeping Beauty, Miracle on 34th Street (both). Anything starring Hayley Mills (espec Tiger Bay, The Parent Trap, and Whistle Down The Wind), John Mills, Horst Buchholz, Christopher Buchholz, Con O'Neill, Julianne Moore, Ralph Fiennes, classics with Doris Day, Jane Fonda, Audrey Hepburn, Maureen O'Hara, Marilyn Monroe, etc. Music biopics like The Birth of The Beatles, Backbeat, and Kurt Russell playing Elvis. Timeless classic kids films and some of the modern day masterpieces too, such as the Toy Storys and the Shreks. Or quirky films - on the verge of reality, but with a slight edge. Or directed by M Night Shyamalan, Tim Burton, Alan Parker, etc Or anything with a scene with wet men, I'm thinking Christopher Reeve's Superman in Lex Luther's swimming pool - wet black hair... mmm...

Television:

The Simpsons, Futurama, Desperate Housewives, Frasier, Friends, The Muppet Show, The Flintstones, Countdown, last 3 series Doctor Who, Still Game, Saturday morning kids TV from the 80s, and all those 80s and 90s shows with acts like Sean Hughes and The Doug Anthony Allstars on.

Books:

Anything by Willie Russell - his plays, his novel, his music, his shopping list! I used to empathise with Linda in Stags and Hens, but find I feel more like the grown up Linda in Blood Brothers and Shirley Valentine (well without the desire for Greek sex!). That's what's so great about Willie, he writes amazing female characters, considering he's never been one, that touch you, wherever you're at in life.

Heroes:

My brother Scott who I've always looked up to, my second cousin David Narey who played football for Scotland in the 80s, and Peter Michael Marino who probed my brain and came up with a masterpiece! :-D Plus all of the above, and all the animal rights liberators who have the balls to film and rescue in places I wouldn't dare to go!
