About Me

Holding.Sky is a band who absolutely pours their heart and soul into their music. Taking influences from hard hitting bands like the Deftones, Thrice, Thursday as well as the soulfulness of artists like Jeff Buckley, Holding.Sky have combined elements of each and more to create their own unique sound. Having already recorded two independent releases and performed across Ontario, they show no signs of backing down. It is because of this never-ending determination that they have been fortunate to share the stage with established acts such as BOY and Moneen. They even secured thousands of votes by online fans to rock the opening slot on the mainstage of MySpace and Rockstar Energy Drinks’ Taste of Chaos tour stop in Toronto in April 2006. This massive show featured Holding.Sky sharing the stage with some of their biggest hard rock influences: Deftones, Thrice, Silverstein, Thursday and Atreyu. It is because of opportunities like these that Holding.Sky has been able to build a loyal fan base and live valuable life experiences.
Holding.Sky's unending persistence applies not only to their music, but to every facet of their lives. Bass player Ben Tillmann is an accomplished 3D animator for Core studios as well as an accomplished illustrator. Rhythm guitarist Kohji Nagata has graduated McMaster University with a degree in Political Science and is currently in the process of getting his honors in English with hopes of becoming a teacher. Singer Tim Laidman works full time, has a diploma in Advertising and is currently enrolled in a Graphic Design program. Drummer Bourke Tillmann is currently enrolled in classes at University of Western Medical School. Finally, new lead guitarist Mikey Hill is rocking University of Toronto's Medical School. These rawk kids have big dreams.
With a huge sound that is undeniably unique, it is clear why anyone who has heard Holding.Sky’s music or seen one of their shows has become a loyal fan. Although each band member possesses much of his own individual talent, the sum of Holding.Sky is far greater then its individual parts. With structured, well thought-out songs and a tenacious attitude, Holding.Sky has every intention on being around for years to come.
