TURNSTYLZ - a musical group. DJ crew, and production team - performs live DJ sets and serves as a dynamic backing band for talented hip hop, R&B and soul artists by fusing the best elements of hip hop and world beats.
Just as standards in the music industry are being redefined with the advancement of digital music, TURNSTYLZ is redefining the live music and dance party experience by merging the best elements of both into one context. Rather than merely performing live or spinning records, TURNSTLYZ creates an underground party experience by incorporating rarely blended musical genres into their Live DJ sets. These sets are designed to keep the dance floor jumping and include the incorporation of performances by talented R&B and hip hop artists.
TURNSTYLZ sets the foundation for this redefined party experience through the NU-LOOP concept. NU-LOOP represents the creation and remixing of hip hop and world beats through an eclectic mix of instruments that TURNSTYLZ uses in its live DJ sets and performances. A typical TURNSTYLZ set includes such instruments as turntables, drum kit, upright bass, keys, guitar, surdo, pandeiro, alfaias, and guica. Rather than improvise or overplay, TURNSTYLZ plays both creative and recognizable loops, recreating the dance party experience that listeners are accustomed to when DJs are spinning records.
As the name suggests, TURNSTYLZ incorporates many musical genres and dynamic rhythmic styles into its beats and instrumental grooves. Respecting both the pioneers of turntablism and the amazing musicians creating infectious dance music around the globe, TURNSTYLZ tracks are designed to allow the dance floor to reign supreme. TURNSTYLZ consists of 5 like-minded, beat fanatics, all with diverse skill sets and musical backgrounds. As a result, TURNSTYLZ performances prove to be visually stimulating and unique experiences, given that it is a hip-hop musical chairs of sorts, with members constantly switching instruments to create its live DJ sets and back up performances.
