About Me

I don't like comedies. I don't like the idea of people spending copious amounts of cash on fanciful, frivolous things (like weddings and Starbucks). Mickey Rooney creeps me out. I do like some things too. I like black cats and goldfish and umbrellas and birdcages (but not birds in cages) and viewmasters and poppies and.... ummm... well, I'm surprised that I like that many things. Oh, and I like red wine. It is the lifeblood.

weirdos like these kids below

Music:

Tattoo You and earlier Stones, Van Morrison while he still drank cherry wine, cherry wine. Bughouse Five. The Cure. New York Dolls. The big strong voices of Ella, Etta and Patsy. The subtler and soulful voices of Nina and Billie. The Gossip. The Detroit Cobras. The Pixies. Django Reinhardt, Stephane Grappelli and Sidney Bechet together or apart. Neko Case. "Kiss Me Deadly" by Generation X. "Peppermint Twist" by Catarina Valente. The Sex Pistols. The Arctic Monkeys. The Cramps. Portishead.

Movies:

"Naked" directed by Mike Leigh - David Thewlis is brilliant. "The Cotton Club" - I'm a sucker for tap dancing and gangsters and gun molls. Anything Russ Meyer did. "Resevoir Dogs" and almost anything with Steve Buscemi. "A Woman Under the Influence" and anything by John Cassavetes. "The House of Yes" - I just recently found out that Parker Posey and I were born on the same day. It didn't surprise me, she's such a geek...

Television:

I like Futurama better than the Simpsons - there's just more you can do with robots and alien lobsters. Six Feet Under. The Wedge. Old Warner Bros. cartoons. "Connections" hosted by science historian James Burke. of course Seinfeld.

Books:

"The Tin Flute" by Gabrielle Roy, "The Grapes of Wrath" by Steinbeck, "Sentimental Education" by Gustave Flaubert. I love!!! Beckett and Bukowski.

Heroes:

Bugs Bunny and Emma Peel.
