CD Release @ Zaphod's Saturday June 14!!

About Me

"Inasense" is basically a live jam with a couple overdubs. It's The Benefits of Doubt's favourite track off our CD, "A Walk In The Park", and it's never been made available online before. That's the undeniable Jordy Walker on lead guitar (even though it sounds like a rhodes). It was recorded by Phil Bova Jr., and mixed by Chris Sheenan-Dyck on the very same spot, at a cottage on Lake McGregor. "I'll Do Ya" was recorded at the 33 1st Ave. Concert Series in April, 2006. (The show also featured Peter Katz.) This was the first in a series which I helped to organize which has featured a ton of amazing local and touring artists. There was a lot of drinking, and I guess somebody forgot to tell the band that Dean Watson (Coqi Records, Gallery Studios, Lure) was recording the show. Whoopsie! Nurturenature" was recorded by Mike Kerwin in Newmarket, ON and features Mike Bowell on "auto-wah" guitar, and Mike Schultz (Boycrusher) on keyboards. That's a lot of Mike's! The track mixed by Steve Hamilton @ BAM Productions in Guelph, ON & was mastered by Black Dog Studios in Miami. It will be on our upcoming CD, which is well in the works & scheduled for release in January.

A Lotta Rock In The Park: Samstock Jr. in New Dundee, ON

So Samstock Jr. went off without a hitch yesterday (under a 60 year old bandshell, and in the hot hot sun). Apparently no kegs = no cops. For the record, only one member of North of Sam took his ...

crazy rock show: fire, chainsaws & topless dancers

Still shaking my head after witnessing the craziest rock show I ever did see last night. It was White Cowbell Oklahoma at Lee's Palace in TO. They've got 3 guitar players, 2 guys on cowbells...
