My dad was a Russian immigrant with a marvelous voice and he was a constant musical presence every day of my young life. Thanks to him I grew up listening to Mario Lanza, Caruso and all the great singers. Their music inspired me to sing and then later to compete for scholarships that afforded me vocal instruction beginning when I was thirteen.I attended Santa Monica High School and Santa Monica City College, majoring in Musical Theater. I played roles like Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz and Angelina in Gilbert and Sullivans Trial by Jury. After college I toured with Debbie Reynolds in her back up group The Unusual We. We toured the U.S. and appeared on TV shows such as the Tom Jones Show and The Della Reese Show. As a member of The Unusual We, I also performed with Frankie Avalon, Robert Goulet, Harry James and George Carlin.
But the lure of the stage wasn't as strong for me as the lure of marriage and children. I left show biz to raise a family. It wasnt until my children were teenagers that I realized how much I missed performing.Local community theater gave me immediate access to the stage once again which quickly led to landing leading roles in some of the most prestigious theater companies in Los Angeles. I have had the opportunity to play roles such as Ida Straus in Titanic, Lady Thiang in The King and I, Mother Abbess in The Sound of Music, Marie Dindon in La Cage Aux Folles, The Witch in Into the Woods, Glinda in The Wizard of Oz and many, many more. Recently, I was able to share the stage with Kathryn Crosby in a tribute to the music of Irving Berlin called The Melody Lingers On.
In 2002 I began studying voice with my incredible voice teacher and mentor, Eddie Sayegh. In 2005, we created and produced my debut album Seasons of Life a musical journey through the seasons of my life. And as my journey continues I have now embarked on a new path....Cabaret! With the help of my fabulous Director, Clifford Bell otherwise known as The King of Cabaret, my one woman show, Seasons of Life, has already been a smash success at notable venues such as The Cinegrill at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel and The Norris Center for Performing Arts in Palos Verdes.I am so grateful to be doing what I love to do.......singing in Cabaret, performing in musical theater, making my first CD. I am doing what I feel is so important for each of us....which is to continue to grow, use our talents and live every day to its fullest.
