Alongside a selection of the capitals most established hard dance, funky house and old skool DJs, a new and exciting DJ duo named 'The Petty Thievez' have been specializing in their stock trade of uplifting feel-good funky house. The duo have already been making a name for themselves at some of Londons most funky venues including The 'Hidden Club' in Vauxhall, where they took the club by storm with their distinctive glamorous sounds.
The duo aren't quite so fresh-faced after all, as 'The Petty Thievez' are made up of hard house dynamo and Raindance Jenkins Lane regular Anthony Atcherley and East 17 vocalist Terry Coldwell.
Anthony Atcherley first got into electronic music at the age of about 10 when he was listening to bands like Kraftwerk & Depeche Mode, then a few years later got into Electro. The first time he heard any proper mixing was on the Electro 1 album, and he managed to get 2 old record players (Technics weren't around at the time) and started to learn mixing on them.
A little while later House music came out, and he met a friend at school called Daniel Light (Billy Bunter) who was also into the same kind of music. Daniel Light and Anthony Atcherley then started DJing at little house parties together.
Then came the Acid house days, when a D.J. called Chris Paul gave Anthony his first real break at Camden Palace when he was only 18. A year later Billy Bunter started playing in Labyrinth where he got also managed to get Anthony a few bookings.
In 1997, Anthony got a job at Mos Music Machine, where he learnt a lot about record labels and how to run them, and it was there Anthony decided to start writing his own tracks. Billy Bunter was writing and recording some hard house stuff, so Anthony went in the studio with him, which is where they wrote and recorded together.
After a few weeks, Anthony started writing and recording material on his own, when he wrote an anthem for his new label ''Honey Pot''. This was when Anthony wrote IN MY HOUSE which was a huge chart-hit and became one of Honeypots biggest releases. Shortly after this, Anthony started a few of his own record labels called 'Just Do It, Under Siege' & 'Phat Beats' which were all successful.
A few years later, Billy Bunter started his club night called TASTY and asked Anthony to be his resident DJ, playing Trance and a bit of old skool at the RAINDANCE events.

Along with John Hendy, Tony Mortimer and Brian Harvey, Terry Coldwell was best remembered as being one of the four vocalists in London based group East 17. East 17 band were formed in 1990 after founder member Tony Mortimer was given the promise of a record deal. When Tony showcased his own material to London Records, London Records agreed to work with Tony under the condition that he forms a group. This was when East 17 was born.
Seen as a harsher, and more hip-hop oriented alternative to rival boy band Take That, they scored twelve top 10 hits in the UK singles chart, between 1992 and 1998. Their debut album Walthamstow, again named after the area of East London where they were based, shot to number one in the UK album chart. It featured a strong string of top twenty singles, their most key songs being 'House Of Love', and 'Deep'.
In 1994 upon the release of their second album 'Steam', they scored their only UK number one single, the '94 Christmas chart topper 'Stay Another Day', which remained at the top for five weeks. In 1996 they hit number two in a duet with Gabrielle, 'If You Ever'.
After Tony Mortimer quit the group in 1998, Terry Coldwell, John Hendy and Brian Harvey continued under the name of E-17, when they released 'Each Time', which reached number two in the UK, and 'Betcha Can't Wait', followed by the album 'Resurrection'. East 17 disbanded shortly after this.
In mid-February 2006, East 17 reformed, and played their sold-out reunion gig on 30 May 2006 at the Shepherd's Bush Empire in London.
On an individual basis, Terry has always been in the dance scene, starting with acid house at house parties in 1988 that always got raided to a soundtrack of stuff like Fast Eddies Acid Thunder and Rhythm Is Rhythms Strings of Life. Then when the scene changed to hardcore, Terry was a regular at raves like Raindance, Orange at The Rocket and Elevation at Camden Palace. Terry then got into jungle and drum and bass for a little while, and nowadays it's all about Funky house. Terry's influences include uplifting house music artists including Patrick Alavi, Freemasons, Axwell, Soul Avengers & all the Hed Kandi tunes.

Terry and Anthony finally crossed paths in 2005 when they instantly realised that they were both into dance music and both of them could also mix. Terry had a studio set up, and they set up a production team producing house music & DJing called 'The Petty Thievez'.
