A repo man's always intense.

About Me

I'm a filmmaker, a writer, and a musician. I am a cinephile an audiophile and a bit of a recluse. I dropped out of filmschool. Despite this, I managed to become the Director of Programming at the Documentary Channel we are a new (and yes on the air) film channel dedicated to airing nothing but independent documentary films, this means that I both watch and make films for a living. I have a rock and roll band called The Famous Blue Raincoats. Yes, I ripped that off of Leonard Cohen. Yes everyone left the band except for me and my fourtrack, Yes i'm still making music, I suppose i'll post some soon. I took karate as a young man (I still have my yellow belt around here somewhere). I'll read damn near anything. I love comic books and novels equally and won't choose between them (my name isn't Sophie). I have a neurotic Yorkshire Terrier who can commune with the spirit world (though he never has gotten to be entirely housebroken). I write a weekly column on the Doc Channel's website called From the Vault dedicated to bizarre/obscure/cultish documentaries. If you would like to check it out you can go to www.documentarychannel.com. Note that I didn't say it was good writing or that you would like it, but I can say that my mom reads it and she thinks i'm doing an awesome job.Your results:

It's not fair for me to be asked this question really but i'll give it a go. I greatly enjoy the work of Jim Jarmusch, John Cassavettes, Hal Hartley. I dearly love David Lynch, Wes Anderson, Michel Gondry, Orson Welles and Sergio Leone. Typically anything that David Mamet can be associated with. Zardoz (come to my house we'll watch it) The Marx Brothers in general same goes for Buster Keaton and Tod Slaughter. The Maysles Brothers, Robert Drew (the creators of Direct Cinema in general) Noah Baumbach,The Loved One, Jandek on Corwood, Two Headed Cow, Easy Rider, Anything by Cocteau, Harold and Maude (Hal Ashby rules), Slacker (I have tons of respect for Linklater), Repo Man, The Machinist, Grey Gardens, Pickup on South Street, The Changeling, Paris Texas, Videodrome, The Last Picture Show, The Wild Bunch, The Warriors, Nightmare on Elm Street, Dawn of The Dead, Cemetary Man, Audition, Gozu, Donnie Darko, The Devil and Daniel Johnston (all of Jeff's films), El Topo, The Goonies, Dr. Strangelove so many others I'm sure i'm forgetting. My Blog

A True Hero

To paraphrase Patton Oswalt, there aren't many heroes left in this world of ours. This may be true but I highly recommend checking out the films of Carson Mell. You can do so at www.carsonmell.com and...
