We make a living by what we get, we make a life by what we give. -- Winston Churchill

About Me

I started singing when I was 8 yrs old. My parents thought I was going to be a big star, (along with the next door neighbours, and my music teacher), however, I'm still waiting for MTV "Cribs" to call me, so I guess, I'm not quite there yet. At 18 yrs, I performed on New Faces. Thought I was going to win, but came second last.... My first job was working in an Abbatoir, I think that's where I learnt to be funny.... Sheeps brains and Cow testicles do weird things to anyone!!! I also started singing Country- I won a competition in Gympie- (where the hell?) And it must have been a really big deal because I got to sign my autograph on hundreds of men's bums!!!!At 20 yrs I got a big break- A show at Jupiters casino, which I thouht was amazing. I felt like Celine Dion in Vegas!!! Moved to Sydney 2 years later, and everything became a blur...I worked for Disney, touring Taiwan and Japan (as Minnie Mouse, Snow White and a starfish), joined a Latin band and spent 4 months in Bangkok and Papua New Geuni.Performed in cheesy shows “Spice Power” and “Tonight’s the Night”, which also toured...Began working on Tele quite a bit, including a TVC for X-men’s Bryan Singer, in which he pulled me out of the final scene because I was "not a model", (still got $11,000 tho..)Ended up in the final 12 of "Popstars", (which didn't do f-ck all, or get me any exposure whatsoever), so I proceeded to enter the world of Cabaret, and in particular RSL clubs.I even wrote my own show “That little Siren, Kelly O’Brien” which was a huge hit, (I made $12 from it!!) I did some recording work for Australia’s Utopian Babies and The Bad Boys for Love, which coincidentally led to gig singing for Russell Crowe on his Private Ranch for 3 days in Christmas 2001. This was probably the coolest gig I ever did, complete madness!!!In Feb 2002 I packed my belongings away to move to Germany to do Starlight Express. After 3 months there I had a Record deal with Zyx music and was recording with a trashy 80's freak band named “Glamrock”. The single "Crusified" hit no 4 Dance charts in Poland, and no 10 in Sweden. Was very excited to see myself on the record store shelf!!!Moved to London in 2005. Wrote a book- "Help, I can't see my foo foo" Now living in London as a freelance singer. Although I do miss Australia all the time.My book will be out around September 2008, through Waterstones on Oxford St, Amazon and Author House London.I also have a Website now, Check it outwww.kellyobrien.co.uk
