BIG BAND SWING
Knowing his show is the most important tool which connects with his fans. He demands his orchestra be tight and loud. Music flows from their instruments and a great deal of passion for these arrangements fill every corner of the room.
Wayne smacks you straight in the face with his vocals which immediately conjures up images in your mind of icons from the past. He slips straight in with these legends as though he was always part of the pack.
Don't be mistaken - he's an individual! You won’t find a Frank, Sammy or Dean impersonator on Wayne's Stage!
The huge range of material Wayne chooses to perform is astounding and all songs performed are perfectly arranged and executed.
Wayne's movements on stage are a throw-back to all the Jazz & big band performers throughout the years. Using the stage and his body he is a natural interpreter of music. Wayne perfected his stagecraft during his Cover band days but nothing brings him more joy as the natural feeling he projects when performing in front of his big band.
Instead of going for the standards of yesterday and re-hashing them, He wanted songs from some of his favourite Australian writers. As well as his own material, The chosen songs represented Wayne, his passion for music and his take on the world.
Working with his musical director Andrew Robertson they came up with a big band sound that rocks but with a touch of smooth. The initial results was exactly what he wanted.
With no record deal to date over 20,000 copies of “Cover Story†are sitting proudly in homes across Australia and the world.
Wayne you were born in the wrong era and thank god for that.
