CONFUSION IS NEXT is an alt.rock quartet directly sent out from the guts and the vaults of suburbias surrounding Milan & Monza, north Italy.
Influenced by fuzzy guitars and flannel shirts, punk rock garage stoned distortions, hardcore attitudes and massive sonic experimentation with melody and noise, CIN recorded in 2005 their self-production, "ten hours rec+mix+master" debut, named "Spread The Spirit". Since October 2007, you can download this 7 songs cd from the spanish netlabel Trastienda (www.trastienda.org) for free, under Creative Commons 2.5 license.
The band, having played their live debut as a 2 guitars+drum combo in december 22nd 2004, after 8 hours only reharsing as a 3 piece (the original core prior the band, the 2 guitarists, was reharsing since feb 2004), then found its ultimate combo version as a 4 piece in early january 2005.
The lyrics, written and sung by guitarist Matteo, are composed with the assistance of daydreaming, dejavù's, cut ups, hallucinations, personal feelings, and things put together just to don't make sense at all even if they've got still a very wide significance over the band's songs.
Along with the extreme guitar strumming of the singer, Lorenzo provides with another guitar psychotic solos, Pinno goes on with pounding bass lines while Bicio, the drummer, sweats and beats 'til death the drumset.
The music, a personal mixture of punk rock, garage, Sonic Youth, Nirvana, System Of A down, The Beatles, and much more, is the most important thing for CIN. The goal is experimenting with sounds. Each band member does his best to express himself and fit the other members ideas too.
Live performances are completed with improvised jams, noisy stuff, punkrock enthusiasm, drone atmosphere mixed with art rock, anarcoid, anti-fascism, anti-hypocricy attitude.
In May 2008, the follow up to "Spread The Spirit", named "LOST IN DARK DAYS", will be released under CC license for the italian netlabel Ekleipsi (www.ekleipsi.com) finally concluding the more than two year work on the 8 songs it will feature.
The band's name comes from a Sonic Youth song, CONFUSION IS NEXT, significant for its lyrics:
"I maintain that
Chaos is the future
And beyond it is freedom
Confusion is next and next after that is the truth"
Which is a great, universal, punkrock TRUTH.
