I LOVE: laughing, my family, unexpectedly remembering something that my mom used to like a lot, projects, my bed + computer + dvds/tv shows i like but can't watch on tv, a good story, sentimentality, salty/sweet flavor combination, music and singing along, olives, cheese, absurdity, reliability, spontaneity, letters from special people, being in the shower with hothothot water, making out, sleeping in, dirty martinis, a challenge, learning to do something new, cooking (especially for a potluck), road trips to fun places, icecream, dancing, the word "barf," children, paper, polaroids, clean sheet night, history, symmetry and balance, turning useless old stuff into useful new beautiful stuff, sushi and sake, postcards, brunch, moving furniture around (in my own house, not house-to-house), coffee icecream, family albums, being a girl, hot shoes, antique jewelry, board games, kickin it
I DO NOT LOVE: uselessness, my lack of punctuality and my tendency to procrastinate, jealousy, whining, cleaning out the fridge or removing the dust bunnies from under stuff or off the end of the broom, having to let go, being too hot when i sleep (though I adore heavy blankets in a chilly room), selfishness, learning my lesson
rockers, rollers, rappers, and honky tonkers. the list is long.
I also love with any song that tells a story, for example: space oddity, brandy (you're a fine girl), long black veil, the wreck of the edmund fitzgerald, random sad-story country songs i hear when I am driving to my family's house in Tennessee.
I have a knack for Name-that-tune and I learn songs very quickly. I would be really excited to be on the show "Don't Forget the Lyrics." I am pretty sure I'd win a million dollars.
I'd love to be a part time lady rapper and karaoke superstar.
Meet me at the movies or curl up with me under the covers with a dvd. Bring popcorn or icecream. Or both.
I like it Prime Time style and on DVD: Battlestar, Dexter, Lost, Flight of the Conchords, Freaks and Geeks, 30 Rock, the Office and all the contests (ANTM, Project Runway, American Idol, Don't Forget the Lyrics, etc). Lots and lots of Netflix television. Sounds like I'm going to be spending a lot of time with some dvds. See comment under the "movies" category for instructions!
The Devil in the White City, His Dark Materials, Neverwhere, American Gods, Geek Love, Harry Potter and about a million other children's books, The Velveteen Rabbit, especially. Also, any book i can cut up and make into something new. Sometimes I wish I could erase my memory and re-read some books for the first time again.
My mom for teaching me everything from cooking to how to be a friend to others and for still managing to be present in my life every day somehow, and my dad for being there and for saying, "Hey Katiecakes, it's your Pop" when he calls, making me feel loved and cared for from hundreds of miles away.
